it seem doable with serial0: socket in the VM definition, and a VM that has a tty that listen to ttyS0@115200.
so one can just qm terminal VMID to access to the running VM.
I am looking for something in command line not web or vnc interface.
If I could go throught some proxy like qm vncproxy that could allow me to send a command line to the shell, it will be fine.
It is possible to do that with virtualbox, so I thought it would be possible with proxmox...
Hi r.jochum
Not exactly. I need a TTY access to the console of the VM so I can launch some init/install/populate script directly on the console. The VM is not necessarily linked to the administration LAN. In some case there could be no IP link between proxmox shell and the hosted VM, and the...
Hi everyone,
Excuse me if this question has already been posted, but I could not find any solution.
My question is about to script the console of a VM.
I want to start a pre-configured VM with an automatic builded config, and launch some command inside the VM (when the prompt is ready), so it...
after many tries I give up with zfs raid, I was installing proxmox 5.2 on a Blade, an IBM HS23 on a IBM Bladecenter S. but everytime I got an error on boot
by the way I am still using proxmox, but not zfs.
ok, thank for your answer.
You gave me the reason why Martin did name it proxmox, because this name was not used, so google was free to serve for this purpose.
I would like to know why he think about proxmox itselft. Did martin think about Mox energy fuel ? I guess yes.
any comment everybody...
where does proxmox name come from ? I guess it could be some "mox" for your proc(s) to figure a boost given to the CPU, but german are not usually pro-nuclear energy, so I doubt about this.
Can you tell about the reason this name was choosen ?
thanks.
:-)
I have a brand new cluster made with 2 HP DL380p Gen8 and a HP MSA P2000 SAN with FCG3 (fibre channel) controller.
I've installed proxmox V3.3 on both, without problem, then make test partition, vdisk, volume and mapping and so on, on the SAN.
first problem appear when detecting brocade fibre...
Re: Getting started with PVE storage model - software RAID5 array and storage concept
you setup your RAID/LVM, once the storage is effective you mount it then you create a datastore in proxmox with "images" capabilities.
this is an "alternative" way, or a cheap way, the best way is with...
in that case the normal process may be to install a regular debian on your mac, wich is easy, then setup proxmox.
comme back here with the debian installed.

it COULD do it, but sometimes there is light differences in calculation between FS and raw block, so if you want to be sure, shrink the FS more than necessary:
Re: Getting started with PVE storage model - software RAID5 array and storage concept
here is an example for the resize. I do it online but with all service stopped.
[at your own risk, make backup ... so on]

any question ?
Re: CLUSTER & sharing: How do I move (migrate) a VM to a different storage than "loca
yes it works, that's what I've done, but it's less interesting than migrate. :D
I have also STOP VM, manualy mv /varliv/vz/image/106 to SHARED, then edit /etc/pve/nodes/proxmox30/qemu-server/106.conf "ide0...
I have an experimental cluster of 3 nodes.
they all use a local storage (/var/lib/vz) AND a nfs storage (named SHARED)
I would like to move a VM from node1:local:/VMID to node2:SHARED:/VMID
how is it possible ? (there is no storage destination !)
I am able to move it when shuted down but I...
