Re: Proxmox VE 2.2 review in iX magazine (heise)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurnKey_Linux_Virtual_Appliance_Library and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel-based_Virtual_Machine both link to it, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxmox_Virtual_Environment looks dead.
As more apps start supporting 12.04 LTS, I figure it's time to start testing.
Some discussion here http://openvz.livejournal.com/41500.html
http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/templates/precreated now has 12.04 templates
I haven't followed kernel development for some time, but I'm curious what...
The OpenVZ templates I've used have come with various timezones configured and I'm getting better about remembering to reconfigure the TZ link to /etc/localtime when I use them. I'm about to create a couple of template appliances and am wondering if there's a more elegant way to do this, so...
Been tinkering with Clonezilla and it all seems rather messy when what I'm trying to migrate is already virtualized. Parallels uses .hdd 'files' which are really directories. Inside is an .hds file which is obviously some sort of drive image. Anyone know if I can use this directly (or...
http://download.swsoft.com/virtuozzo/virtuozzo4.0/docs/en/lin/VzLinuxUG/330.htm explains the OpenVZ position on this - they suggest running NTP in one container only and not on the host.
Now that I've been bitten by the leap second bug, I'm curious about time architecture in Proxmox. Is it really true that you can't run NTP in a container?
{Reposting here as I failed to realize I was replying in the 1.x forum earlier.}

Re: Proxmox Android client - UPGRADE: Version ALPHA released
This should get very interesting as the latest batch of $199 tablets (Nexus 7, Kindle Fire 2) start to ship.
We plan to run a Windows-based application in a Proxmox VM that needs access to a USB-based RFID encoder device. The device will be attached to a client machine which is running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The encoder is based on a Silicon Labs CP210x chipset and uses a virtual COM port driver to...
unxz (already installed in the default Proxmox build, BTW) followed by gzip converted the file as expected, and I was able to create a CT just fine:
Creating container private area (/var/lib/vz/template/cache/centos-6-x86_64-20120114.tar.gz)
Performing postcreate actions
CT configuration saved...
Ah - was not aware that OpenVZ templates were not necessarily compatible with Proxmox. Thank you.
Got a pointer to the naming convention so I can try to wrangle this into the correct format? Or is there a Centos 6 template for Proxmox? I did not see one when I looked.
Might have to change that to UNSOLVED. Wanted to change a few things so I ran through the steps again and the script hung in the same place again. Went back to the VM that worked, but UniFi would still not start. It dumped this when it tried to start:
#
# A fatal error has been detected by...
Update: Decided to chmod the new file to match the attributes of the existing files (600) which did not change anything. More surprisingly, shutting down the node and restarting did not cause the newly scp'd template to become visible in the GUI.
Got the same error here on both Firefox 12.0 and Safari 5.1.7, so I scp'd the file and moved it to /var/lib/vz/template/cache
However, it's not visible in the web interface under local/content, even after logging out and back in. I'm fairly new to Proxmox -- how do I tell the UI to rescan that...
SOLVED - using http://download.openvz.org/template/precreated/ubuntu-11.04-x86_64.tar.gz instead of http://download.proxmox.com/appliances/system/ubuntu-11.04-standard_11.04-1_amd64.tar.gz allowed the install to complete.
