High availability with Cluster on two servers via wan

Your best bet is to check the WIKI on the multi casting debug/testing. Run some tests and see if multicasting will even work between the two servers, I would be surprised if it's enabled to be honest on a public shared network.

Ceph Optimization for HA. 7 nodes, 2 osd each

Correct, as the OP asked for Optimisation i thought it was also worth stating that, along with asking about the crushmap to make sure it was not doing OSD replication instead of HOST.

Ceph Optimization for HA. 7 nodes, 2 osd each

You may also find your PG number is too low for the amount of OSD's you have. Can you give an export of your crushmap?

    Firewall in Cluster

Do you have a link to this "macro" within the WIKI/DOCS as I have had a look but can't see anything, or am I better just adding the CEPH port's required into the Firewall config manually?

    Firewall in Cluster

Thanks, when you say a macro, is this fully automated within Proxmox code, nothing I need to enable before I enable the FW. ,Ashley

    Firewall in Cluster

Currently: DC Level :Firewall disabled (default) Node Level : Firewall enabled (default) Questions: 1/ With it disabled at DC Level will that also mean the firewall is automatically force ably disabled system wide? 2/ If I enabled firewall at DC level then the firewall will start to work at...

    Kernel Panic

Hello, I have 3 Proxmox compute nodes on a CEPH Cluster (no OSD's on the compute nodes),over the last few days I have been getting a Kernel Panic on one particular server, it normally happens around 24 hours time, server reboots it self and recovers however would be good to find the issue. The...

confusion about 'local' storage size after install from ISO

Some storage will be assigned as VG/LVM for the storage pools that show within Proxmox GUI. The storage assigned to / is designed for the OS and other system files, if you view the storage TAB within Proxmox GUI you will see the storage called "local"

    Proxmox Ceph 10G setup

1/ I would sugest you always keep your VM and OSD nodes seperate, this is also recommend best by CEPH themselves, also allows you to use KRBD without any lockup's when OSD's and the VM's running on the same kernel. 2/ If a MON dies the remaining MON's will continue to operate aslong as they...

Q: Upgrade Proxmox CLUSTER 4.0 to 4.4 (latest)

Don't quote me to this, however I am sure you should do the apt-get dist-upgrade on all nodes, this will not effect any running VM's but bring all Proxmox services and packages up-to-date with each other. You should then try and live migrate the VM's across to the already rebooted node so you...

    Own node showing as offline

That would explain it, had a CEPH storage that was set to show on all nodes, the management node does not sit on the CEPH vlan, have removed it from this node and will monitor. Thanks

    Own node showing as offline

I have a cluster setup within Proxmox, have a dedicated server running that I use for management & a few small VM's such as DHCP. When connecting to the web interface via this node quite often the particular node will show as red within the side panel view, sometimes this will just appear back...

    System Upgrades...Networking Question.

Correct, which allows the switch to better manage the two links connecting the same source & destination, and is also designed for HA/Reliability and not just the pooling of capacity.

[SOLVED] The error I get when creating a network adapter

Do you have a cluster (broken)? Normally the /etc/pve directory goes into Read-only mode during this point.

    System Upgrades...Networking Question.

That will technically cause a loop back on a bog standard switch, if you switch supports spanning tree and can be enabled this will handle such setups and allow for the HA/Redundancy of multiple connections, you will also want to setup each of the 2 connections into a LACP/BOND, instead of just...

    System Upgrades..Checking Build Plan.

There will be no issues from the Proxmox front on different versions of CPU model e.t.c, only issues you may have is depending on your setup if you wish to migrate a VM from one node to another specially Windows OS's they may complain about the change of CPU (become un-licensed,BSOD)

    expanding storage

If the array is not showing as storage your need to add the array as a storage location. This can be done from the data centre tab, you will however need to make sure the storage is first formatted and made available in however format you wish to use.
