Did i missed something?
Does Proxmox Convert by itself everything to the RAW Format if i migrate the first time a VM in a Cluster to another node?
The Storage is ZFS:
Different VMs, cause the one below was converted, but it shows raw here:
However, if i check with zfs list, its still a...
Same happens if i Migrate VMs, just found out,
If i Migrate only one, i get max 6-7 Gibps.
But if i migrate 3 at the same time, you see in the picture, im getting 16-17Gibps.
And its somehow not the CPU's, nothing reaches 100%, max 20-30%, its a high Clocked Genoa 9374F in both servers.
There...
I have the same issue on one VM, the weird thing is, that i migrated already some VM's with Whitespaces.
Migrated 20 VM's now, one has this whitespace issue...
EDIT:
I found an Answer to my Performance issue, If i do 5 Import Tasks at same time, all 5 import tasks Combined are like 4x faster as...
Yeah its all fine here, it's anyway extremely strange, for me it seems like a Windows VM vs Linux VM.
All conditions are the same, the one from the post above.
Just if i transfer an Linux-VM, it does 77mb/s (~640Mib/s)
If i do the same with an Windows-VM, it does 16mb/s (~135Mib/s)
The linux...
I have some Feedback to the ESXI-Import Feature.
Migrated some VM's already and its working absolutely perfect, sure you have to change the VM later on etc... But thats normal and Expected.
However what utterly nerves me, is the Migration Speed itself, 20GB Takes around 1,5hours. Its so...
looks for me like the initramfs misses some module or sth. But if update-initramfs doesn't help im out of ideas.
Im using in one of my Servers an LSI 9305-24i (Backup-Server) and have no issues there with 6.8, the card just doesn support secure boot, means the os drives connected to that LSI...
you could try to boot into an older Kernel. Or install for example pve-kernel-6.2 then boot into it to test if it resolves.
A Downgrade is possible, but its not simple and possibly even break things.
Basically you'll need to check apt history and install all the old packages.
There are apt...
May i ask which NIC?
Im just asking, because an Mellanox for example could have been switched to infiniband mode (So you dont see the usual Lan interfaces), but you can for example switch them back to network mode with the mellanox utilitly.
But thats just mellanox.
Im wondering, because i have...
Thats helpfull, but i have no clue how to add them, i think that the proxmox team modifies them anyway a little and they are usually in zstd format not xz (i mean the official Proxmox Templates)
However, i think an 24.04 image is atm in the least Priority, since the Forums are exploding after...
How you guys would do it, since there is many ways to the same result, im searching simply the best solution.
- I need a separate Cluster network/interface (vlan 1720)
- I need a separate Backup network/interface (vlan 1721)
iface enp1s0f0np0 inet manual
iface enp1s0f1np1 inet manual

Nice log. For me it looks like probably a bug in plex media scanner?
But no doubt it's a bug in the kernel either because the cpu shouldn't freeze.
Did you tryed to google if others have similar issues with plex on 6.8?
Another thing is, when Ubuntu 24.04 gets finally released and people start...
There is already a 110 Community Subscription.
As far i remember, it was in the beginning 50€ if im not wrong. (Years ago)
110€ is a bit expensive for the mass of home-Servers i have (2 at my Sisters home, 1 at mums home, 1 at my home, 1 at my nephew's home), to pay for 550€ yearly is a bit...
Yeah, with one VM and one Job and iodepth=1 and iothread=1, you disabling paralellism as much as possible xD
For example, if you have a PVE-Node with many cores and just a few VM's, (or to be more precisise, just a few total virtual drives), you could assign more iothreads to the drives.
if i...
I think there is really nothing we can do tbh.
Not even the Proxmox team, they don't develop the virtio drivers or qemu or kvm.
Maybe there are some hacky arguments, some parameters that you can add to your qemu config for the VM, but thats above my knowledge.
You know as company, you can...
Such sort of issues drives me sometimes crazy from a network perspective.
We all had once downloaded a file corrupted, on the server the file is absolutely fine. On redownload the file is fine either.
But im wondering how that can happen, as we have in the network stack (tcp) error correction...
I did the same test on host and an ubuntu VM, but not on nvmes, just a crap server:
host: (pve 8.1 kernel 6.8.4)
Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W(1)][75.0%][w=1796KiB/s][w=449 IOPS][eta 00m:05s]
VM: Ubuntu 23.10
Jobs: 1 (f=1): [W(1)][75.0%][w=724KiB/s][w=181 IOPS][eta 00m:05s]
Seems to me the same...
