TL;DR: Can somebody post their hosts's fstab and grub defaults so I can compare with mine?
- thanks.
Background to the problem:
I've been running PVE on a Dell R220 machine for about three years, and upgraded from PVE 4.3 to 4.4 without any issues.
Recently however, when rebooting the host...
I'm assuming that if proxmox-ve package installs a kernel module (does it?) then the host needs rebooting if I install an update to that package. Is that right?
That should work - see pizza's comment and link above. By software RAID I mean RAID without a hardware RAID controller. The PVE bare metal installer currently does not allow for you to construct a software RAID as part of the supported install process.
Well yes, but since Proxmox VE on a software RAID is neither supported nor recommended by Proxmox I was hoping to get some indication from them as to whether they might support it in the future.
I note from the roadmap that software raid support isn't mentioned. I know that it's possible to do it by installing PVE in a standard Debain install, but that's not supported.
Will PVE ever get software raid support in the future? I ask because costs for co-location are increasingly being...
Re: firewall not working on vm with firewall=1 on nic and fw on in firewall -> option
Yes, the firewall config is super confusing, and the wiki hardly helps because there are in fact three places in which the firewall can be enabled, so saying things like "enable the firewall" is misleading...
That seems to enabled in the UI? Do I have to add it to the config file manually??
EDIT: OH! WAIT! It worked! Because with "resizepart 1 100%" I just get "invalid token" - I had to try "resizepart 1 yes 100%" and it worked! Weird... Better make sure it's behaving OK now.
Not sure why that works for you. Maybe because you have a quemu disk but I have virtio?
BTW "resizepart 1 100%" isn't recognised by my version of parted on Ubuntu 14.04 (it says "invalid token"). What OS are you using?
That doesn't work because the disk's partition table is MSDOS, which doesn't allow re-sizing in that way. For example:
(parted) print
Model: Virtio Block Device (virtblk)
Disk /dev/vdd: 21.5GB <========== This is the virtual disk size...
Yeah but I'm not using LVM. In fact it would be best not to use LVM if I didn't have to since that just complicates things. Easier to use un-partitioned raw disks so you can just re-size them using PVE.
Re: resize2fs after resizing disk raw virtio disk saying "nothing to do"
OK so for the benefit of anyone else - I think I worked it out.
I have /dev/vdd which is the "physical" virtual disk. This used to be 15Gb but was resized using PVE's resize disk command to 20Gb.
However, I hadn't...
Re: resize2fs after resizing disk raw virtio disk saying "nothing to do"
For some reason line breaks are being removed from my posts. Here's an attempt to post the above with them:
I have have a RAW virtio disk which is running as a partition for an Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS VM.
I wanted to make it...
I have have a RAW virtio disk which is running as a partition for an Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS VM. I wanted to make it bigger, so I used the PVE web GUI's "resize disk" command, which reported the resize went OK.I then rebooted the guest, and ran resize2fs on the partition, but it said there was...
I'd like to specify ipv6 firewall rules, but I can't seem to be able to without using the ipv6 protocol settings and doing them all manually - is that right?
SOLVED: Looks like I needed to have an IPv6 address and loopback configured on the host. I was then able to just select "ipv6" from the...
