6 hours to install Windows 7 as VM

Probably your fsync value with # pveperf is very low. With an additional risk of loosing data, you should set "nobarrier" in fstab options regarding your storage (google for it, or search this forum), this will make I/O with ext4 (default proxmox 4.x filesystem) work much better (compare pveperf...

Questions on creating my first cluster

I don't understand, because my experience with 2 nodes on shared sotrage tells me that you have to manually move the config files after having "unlocked" the shared config directory through quorum assignment. So you can't use the web gui to migrate the vm simply because if you click on the vm on...

    RAW snapshot

Only the state of the current, running VM, if you restore you will not have the snapshots. To tell with other words, is like you were deleting all snapshots and then doing a backup.

    [SOLVED] Free 4.x available?

Just follow the wiki! Do a bare metal installation using the Proxmox ISO, then disable the pve-enterprise repositories and add the pve-nosubscription ones. Then if you want to feel a warm sensation through your body, do a donation to Proxmox team (whatever amout is confortable for you) to help...

Using RDX drives to backup all of proxmox

Set it as plain directory type, you just need a file system where Proxmox can write the backup files, not an LVM storage where create VMs disk volumes. So partition your RDX, format that partition, mount under /mnt/whatever and use that path form backup storage. Of course you will have...

    DRBD9 live migration problems

Do you mind share your tunings? I've seen that if I create a Vm on one node, it takes really long time to sync in the second node with default settings, and often this is unaceptable for me and would love to know exactly how to solve (possibly without becoing a drbd9 guru). Thanks in advance

Problem synchronization DRBD after restart Servers

Have a look at the wiki http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/DRBD9 and the "post-up drbdadm adjust all" part in particular, maybe can solve

When will DRBD9 be ready for production ?

Seems a GUI problem to me, like it's adding storage space available without considering the redundancy factor. If you give me the commands to issue to see the storage space in the way proxmox uses it I can give the results back so you can decide if is a drbd error or a proxmox/GUI one. Thanks a lot

Anyone using raid controller Areca ARC-1883i ?

Hi, the above controller looks very interesting, especially with the Flash Base Module as "permanent" BBU and the possibility to be configured from LAN. In the wiki I've found that the line ARC-1210, ARC-1212 and ARC-1222 works but nothing about the above one. Anyone has experience? Works fine...

When will DRBD9 be ready for production ?

Maybe you should concentrate on fixing the current problems that prevent a safe usage of drbd9, like the miscalculation of free space or the "thin" that is thin only in the node where the resource is created and in any case is lost on restore or move (i.e. have a look at...

    Change NIC

If you change the nic, nothing in the config file will change, but beware that the name the nic will get will be different from the previous ones, since they have a different mac address and so will be seen as "new ones" (i.e eth4 and not eth0). If you can disable the old ones, and you delete...

What about who bought the first edition? Is there a free upgrade, or a substantial discount?

    Proxmox 4.1 2 nodes

Have a look at usage on the OTHER node (if you create the vm on node1, have a look at node2), it DOES allocate all the space. And if you perform a restore, all the space is allocated (this time in all nodes). Also proper size is miscalculated when you have a look at storage size (the available...

    Proxmox 4.1 2 nodes

I've just followed the wiki, but having 2 HD for node, I've created the volume group with /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdc1 (# vgcreate drbdpool /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1) http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/DRBD9 So far I only had problems when I "ifdown eth1" and the sync did never started again with ifup eth1. I've...

    Proxmox 4.1 2 nodes

I've the feeling you have done something wrong. First of all, for DRBD9 you don't have to crete 2 volumes to better cope with split brain, since in drbd9 every VM is a resource and is active only in the node where it runs, so no split/brain problems as it was in drbd8. The 2 storage server, 1...

Error Setup DRBD9 in Proxmox VE 4.1

You'd better past the text between code tags instead of upload images. I'm not a drbd9 expert, I've the feeling that you have big problems in storage communication (ping fails). You should also dig the drbd status with the dedicate commands. # drbdsetup status # drbdmanage list-resources have a...

Poor virtio network performance on FreeBSD guests

I've pfSense 2.2.6-RELEASE (amd64) (the fact that is 64 bit maybe is important?), based on FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p25. I've set only checksum offload in the guest, nothing in the host, host and guest communicate through vmbr0 (is my "lan" inteface on pfsense). I've installed iperf run as server...

Error Setup DRBD9 in Proxmox VE 4.1

No idea, but please put the output of pveversion -v. If you are not using the latest packages (as it seems from your previous posts/video), troubleshooting is almost impossible, and insist in doing setups with outdated/bugged packages is not a good way to go either. Before doing anything, just...

Poor virtio network performance on FreeBSD guests

As suggested in the wiki (is about pfSense), you have to “Disable hardware checksum offload” (System > Advanced > Networking). http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/PfSense_Guest_Notes
