No, I don't have access to Synology.
Note, I don't know why HPE switched from Disk/Target to Target/Disks. Perhaps, they've run into iSCSI session limits, as reducing that number seems to be the first benefit they mention in the article. There are possible drawbacks to reducing the number of...
Hi @_--James--_ ,
The GST and VST are HPE-specific terms. They are not part of the iSCSI RFC/protocol. As such, there is no specific "support" for either one in Linux iSCSI implementation (which is what PVE is using).
Nevertheless, it's clear what HPE means by those terms. Either a target per...
We've had PVE8 with QEMU9 and Kernel 6.11 in our QA infrastructure for over a week and have not experienced any issues. Keep in mind, that our testing is focused on storage-related functions with iSCSI and NVMe/TCP.
At this time, we are running PVE6, PVE7, PVE8+QEMU8, PVE8+QEMU9, and...
Good news! Veeam backups with the new version are functional! Restored VMs passed our snapshot consistency tests. So, we can say that backup of a VM with a single disk is "point in time" (i.e., crash consistent) and has integrity when restored.
We also confirmed that previously taken backups...
Hi @S3LL1G82 , welcome to the forum.
Back in the day when I had actual SCSI card with SCSI devices and IDs set via a jumper, I'd never put a CDrom as ID 0.
I did not look at the actual code but it's not unreasonable to expect virtualization emulation to behave the same way as hardware did...
Hi @24unix , welcome to the forum.
You've properly determined that the PVE is servicing the GUI on port 8006. There is nothing serviced on port 443, so your telnet results are expected.
I am guessing that "Fx" is firefox? I any case, if you have one browser working, that is an indication that...
Hi @acapoprox, welcome to the forum.
If the OOM event happens inside the VM, that usually means that you've run out of allocated memory in the VM. While you may have identical settings between the old ESXi setup and the new PVE, there are always differences between hypervisors and virtual...
An ISO gets generated with or without cicustom. Thats how standard/built-in CI is fed to the VM.
You can use QEMU agent to inject a script, or prepare your template to fetch a script from external HTTP location.
If you'd like to extend existing PVE functionality - go for it. I already pointed...
Hi @gianry , it may help if you provide the following information:
a) from PVE: ip a
b) from your workstation: ipconfig /all (or "ip a" if Linux)
It would be best if you can do it via copy/paste as text (using CODE </> tags from edit box menu).
If you cant do text, good photo is the backup...
The only, currently, supported method of replication in PVE - https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage_Replication
Perhaps, you can replicate via some 3rd party tool. I.e. Veeam, rsync, etc. It all depends on your RTO and RPO requirements.
Good luck

Hi @pm2hard , welcome to the forum
Your questions have only tangential relationship to the topic of this forum : Proxmox VE: Installation and configuration.
There are many discussions about your particular queries. You can retrieve them by searching for:

Hi @ultrasive , PVE allows you to specify arbitrary complex Cloud Init file via "cicustom".
If you insist on submitting code changes, you need to discuss this on PVE developer list, followed by the Developer agreement steps and then submit your patches...
Hi @Owl.paul , welcome to the forum.
LVM thin is not suitable for shared storage use-case. You need to use regular LVM aka LVM Thick.

Hi @jcassel , welcome to the forum.
Based on your message, it seems to me that you would like to share your storage within the cluster. You did tick the "shared" option in your screenshot.
However, marking storage as shared does not actually make it shared. It's a message to PVE that it should...

Good luck

Hi @77777kaz77777 , welcome to the forum.
Your message is not quite clear.
By "unity san" do you mean Dell SAN appliance?
What is not booting - Dell SAN or PVE?
If its the former (Dell SAN) - are you using some sort of VM? There are no support guarantees for 3rd party virtual appliances.
If...
Hi @kellogs,
Op said they have an existing iSCSI appliance they would like to re-use. Ceph is designed to be used with local server storage. Its a great tool but not a solution for every problem.
Best

Note that fast backup/restore based in dirty bitmap depends on VM staying powered on 100% of the time. There are plans to preserve bitmap to survive the shutdown, however, afaik, they are not implemented yet.
