Not that I support not paying for proxmox - we will buy a community license on each node to support proxmox.
We only give one node's IP to let users log in. (We have a specific node that doesn't run any servers) - its just a management node. If you buy 1 license, technically that won't have a...
Got it makes sense. Going to order the new license now and put on a quad CPU server for testing
I can have 1 quad cpu server witha ll the vms and a few 2cpu servers with no license as the HA backups right?
As a proxmox user, and other virtualization platform user for years, I will respond to this so everyone can calm down a bit
1) Should ProxMox be paid? Yes
2) Did I buy a license? Yes
3) What do I want changed?
a) Monthly licensing so I can manage our cash flows
b) Different ticketing system...
Seriously strange. I purchased the subscription keys FYI. Happy to support - just not a huge fan of yearly payment. The reason I don't like annual payment is for cash flow management. If we scale up servers / down - hard to manage fixed costs
Anyway - I changed the code above that I pasted but...
Where are the files?
I edited
$cfg->{ids}->{pve} = {
type => 'pve',
comment => "Proxmox VE authentication server",
};
$cfg->{ids}->{pam} = {
type => 'pam',
plugin => 'PVE::Auth::PAM',
comment => "Linux PAM standard authentication",
}...
Did that change in 3.1? In 3.0 I could change it
I looked at per5/ the auth.pm file - doesn't seem like I can change it
Are you saying no way to change this? Why did this change? was much more convenient before ... I feel like 3.1 changed lots of things for no apparent reason
I used to be able to rename the proxmox realms through some of the static files (IE change proxmox ve auth to "Clients") but this is no longer possible? are the realms stored elsewhere now?
Also just saw
1) Price is quoted on monthly basis but then the purchase is annual
2) there's a mandatory 20% VAT? we're not residents of your country ... why VAT?
I have a few things to ask / say. Just saw 3.1 being released and upgraded. Now all my users get this really annoying "no valid subscription notice".
So basically what was free now comes for $4 per CPU ...
I am initially OK with this as I think you guys do work but I'd rather donate $30 than...
Depends on your budget
We have R710 with H700 as well as 2950 with Perc6i for backup storage
For our SAN we use Custom supermicro solutions with all SSD
RAID cards are LSI-9288-8i
