Thank you for your reply, Menno.
It turned out, that the problem was not caused by the HA test but by the update of node1.
I was not able the get node1 back into the cluster, but I was able to move all remaining nodes into the new cluster formed by node1 by updating/rebooting the remaining nodes...
all,
I noticed, that a HPE Gen8 is not able to boot from a P420i in HBA mode.
Not sure if it's working with a different controller, but I assume it's BIOS related.
With Gen9, HPE switched from BIOS to UEFI, which works after some manual tweaks.

before I rebooted node 1, I updated it, so some versions are different between node1 and the rest of the cluster.
Not sure if this is related

< pve-manager: 5.4-3 (running version: 5.4-3/0a6eaa62)

All,
today I did some HA testing on a 4 node cluster, version 5.4.
I configured a HA group including all nodes and added to VMs tho the group.
The two VMS were running on node 1 and node 2.
I also set shutdown_policy=failover to initiate the failover by simply rebooting a node.
Shortly after...
Hello all,
I configured the proxy settings in the GUI, but /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/76pveproxy was not created.
Even after a reboot it's still missing.
I know from other installations, it's there.
How can I force to create it?
Cheers,
luphi
All,
I get the same error during the installation on an HP DL380 Gen9 using latest ISO
The smart array controller is configured to HBA mode
The installer lists all physical disks.
The error appears, once I click on the "Install" button.
Only possible option is to reboot.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

all,
just tried to delete the MAC prefix.
Unfortunately I couln't find any way to do it via GUI nor API,
but deleting the line from the config file seems to work:
sed -i '/mac_prefix/d' /etc/pve/datacenter.cfg

Hey all,
possibly I have to deploy a few new Proxmox clusters. Too many to install them all manually ;-)
There are many tools out there, doing their job very well: dd, clonezilla...
Just wondering, which parts I have to change on each clone afterwards to make them individual.
The following...

ok, thanks to everyone for your input, especially to Wolfgang. It's really appreciated.
Hopefully I'll get the quotes soon.
Keep you posted.

Thank you for clarification.
Seems to be a good aproach. Can I simply copy over the VM config files and do the vzdump on the synced images?
Just read https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/rbd-mirror-support.33298/
Not such easy, if the ceph clusters are maintained by Proxmox. I will have a deeper...
Hello guletz,
Yes, I want to use the Proxmox internal backup solution and use the snapshot mode.
There are no off work ours. But it's okay to have a short break for the snapshot, since they are not doing it all at the same time.
That's why I don't wan't to spread the cluster acrross both DCs...
Hello Wolfgang,
thank you for your quick estimation.
Mhh, I thought a HBA just supports JBOD configuration
HP SmartArray Controller support RAID and HBA mode
I'm not sure, what you mean.On DC1, i would like to configre a daily backup job of all VMs using the cephFS storage of DC2
