Point 1: As mentioned it's a personal media server > There's no need for any redundancy as it's not exactly hosting business critical applications.
Point 2: I'm aware of that, it was created with GPT in the first place. The issue lies in not being able to extend the storage from 5TB to the 11TB...
Hi,
So one of my personal media servers recently got a storage upgrade. So due to how I had the first RAID array configured (5TB RAID0) and the drives I had laying around for this, I had to create a separate array...
So there's 2x RAID arrays:
5x 1TB RAID 0 drives (Current)
2 X 4TB RAID 0...
Hi,
I'm struggling to get my way around proxmox's way of networking. So perhaps if i post what I want to achieve then you guys can help me and tell me what's what. I've also often found that once I get my head around stuff like this then everything else becomes clear too.
So:
I have:
1x...
Because the second NIC I have (The one I'm trying to compile a driver for) isn't showing up as active. I can see the green light blinking so it's definitely plugged in correctly. Makes me think that maybe there's a driver issue?
Hi,
I can't compile Intel e1000e drivers on proxmox, any help would be appreciated. Here is the error I get:
root@mediaserver:~/e1000e-3.3.5.3/src# make install
make -C /lib/modules/4.4.44-1-pve/build CC=gcc SUBDIRS=/root/e1000e-3.3.5.3/src...
Hi guys,
Probably a very stupid question but this is coming from using esxi. So I've got proxmox installed on a 250GB HDD (Separate from the RAID array) I've also got a 5TB RAID array running on a Adaptec 6805E controller. Promox has installed fine and network and everything is working fine...
It seems to be the only way I know of achieving what I need to. Though I have no current experience with DRBD so someone to help me put together a basic topology/discuss would be so useful.
Hi guys,
Is there anyone that has a working DRBD9 setup that is knowledgeable about DRBD9 and putting together a proxmox basic infrastructure that would have a short skype call with me that would answer a few questions I have? I would ask on the forum but it would be beneficial to have a real...
Now my only question is, are there any specific tutorials for DRBD9 - Proxmox 4 around as they seem to be taken off the wiki. Or do you just follow the DRBD install instructions and it interacts with proxmox via a plugin?
Kind Regards,
Jerome Haynes
Hi Udo. Thank you. So am I correct in understanding that the replication/data will only be held on the two nodes with the third as quorum?
Just need to get this right the first time as it will be a production environment and once this is put into the datacenter it will have live data on it so...
Hi,
I know that as of DRBD9 it requires 3 nodes. Does that mean I can however have 2 high spec nodes and a 3rd acting as quorum/witness that is lower spec? Would this still work or shall I also pay to get the 3rd node upgraded to the same spec as the two higher spec ones?
Kind Regards,
Jerome...
Yeah it would be that. I'd be hosting other virtual machines though that do other tasks. Does DRBD have the option to only have certain virtual machines replicate? I don't need everything to be HA. And for any clients needing specific virtual machines obviously I'd want them to pay extra if they...
I'm really stuck on the fence with DRBD vs glusterfs. I can tell you that it will be a mixture of virtual machines but one of them is a Cpanel server?
Kind Regards,
Jerome Haynes
How good is the performance with GlusterFS? To my understanding you use it as shared storage and the data partly sits on all the nodes? I've only ever used servers with Direct attached storage before hence my knowledge with shared storage is a bit limited. Would this require 10GBE connectivity...
Hi e100,
Thank you for your detailed answer. My confusion lies with the new licensing with linbit. Are we allowed to use DRBD9 with Promox 4 anymore? Does it have to come from certain repositories? What permission do we need to have this/how do we gain permission? All the wiki says is about the...
