Hello togehter,
Any help in the issue below is highly appreciated!
Thanks!
Christian
[In short]
After upgrading from Proxmox 6.2 to 6.3 mid of December I noticed a massive performance drop on my HDD based ZFS-pool.
Performance dropped in my SAMBA use case from 110 MByte/s Network copy speed...
Hi,
I see very bad write performance with pve6-usb-automount.
Write performance is in the range of only a few megabytes per second (1 - 4 MB/s) on USB3 drives. Reading from those drives is in the range of 120+ MByte/s
When I mount the USB drives over FSTAB the read and write performance is in...
Hi H4R0,
thanks for the answer.
the disk is only to 18% full and the out of the box nextcloud snap database shouldn't eat up the remaining 14 Gbyte of remaining space.
I run the nextcloud.mysqldump of the snap over ssh.
I guess it is some kind of rights issue of snapd on an unprivileged...
Hello together,
I've nextcloud snap in an unprivileged lxc container up and running. No I was playing around with the nextcloud snap CLI.
When issuing the following command:
nextcloud.mysqldump --databases nextcloud > /tmp/nextclouddump.txt
I got the following error:
Got errno 32 on write...
Hello togehter,
I want to bind mount 10 + x ZFS datasets into a lxc container. Is this an bad idea?
What is the maximum recommended number of bind mounts for a container?
According to man pct the bind mount limit seems to be 256 (mp0 - 255) is this assumption correct?
Thanks!
Chris
Ok. I found out what causes the error message.
It is more or less the same reason what causes my test trying to run the DCs in an unprivileged container to fail.
The error meesage is caused by the fact that samba uses the security.* namespace for storing the NTACLs. When yu try to set the...
So I think I finally give up trying to set this up in an unprivileged container. Found no workaround.
Has anyone else an idea? Or has a fileserver running in an unprivileged container?
Thanks!
Chris
EDIT: Changed the thread subject - Added (unprivileged) to the subject
A little update: For an privileged container it is working now.
Problem was that I made the privileged container out of the backup from the unprivileged one. This screwed up some of the file owner rights. The chmod I issued was ok, but the file rights of the sambashares folder and the...
Hi Yves,
maybe. On the other hand I tried a priviliged container too. Same behaviour. I'm really scratching my head. I dont't understand why this is not working.
Thanks again.
Hello Yves,
Thanks for testing. Good thing is, that the problem seems to be within my configuration. I assume your Samba version is below 4.10.x. I've now the feeling that I messed up the UID/ GID of lxc with the idmaps of samba.
How did you set the lxc.idamp in the <containerid>.conf file...
Hello Yves,
thanks for your answer. I set this on the subvol. I came across those postings a few days ago.
Copying and creating of files and folders is working and the performance of this setup great. But I still can't set the permissions without error message. The point is if you try to set...
Hello together,
posted this already on the samba mailinglist but maybe someone in here can point me into the right direction.
I'm running a PDC in a privilegded lxc container and try to setup a fileserver in an unprivileged lxc container.
The shares of the file server are on the ZFS of the host...
So after playing around for hours with different settings / approaches, I'm pretty sure now, that a Samba DC can only be setup in a privileged container.
As @oguz pointed out, this is due to fact that Samba is using the security.* namespace.
So either set up Samba in a privileged container or...
Sorry for the double post. This post was originally my first post. After editing this post because of typos, it disappeared and I couldn't find it again. Thought I deleted it and created for that reason the other one you replied to. (Had a backup in my text editor ;-) )
NTP runs as server to provide the time to the Windows clients in case the primary DC goes down and I have to have transfer the PDC emulator to the secondary DC. So it is just in case. Otherwise, as long as the proxmox host and the primary DC are synchronizing to the same NTP server, you're...
@kappclark :
In my proxmox-ve: 5.4-2 server works a Fujitsu Intel Mainboard with a Samsung 960 series 256GB NVMe as boot device. The containers are on a 4x4TB WD RED Striped Mirrored Vdev ZFS-Pool (what others would call RAID10 ;-) ). Works like a charm.
Hello together,
Currently I'm running Proxmox VE 5.4-2 (running kernel: 4.15.18-20-pve) and I wanted to have a secondary Samba 4 domain controller in an unprivileged LXC container.
I installed in a container the debian-10.0-standard_10.0-1_amd64.tar.gz and upgraded it afterwards to Debian...
