hopefully, this wont be the case, I just got 4x ConnectX-3 MCX312-XCBT on the way to replace some weird behaving HP NC522SFP in my cluster. I'm in the middle of upgrading my homelab to 8.1.4 and some card just died while upgrading (was fine in 7.4.17 but never came up when done at 8.1.4).
I never needed a external driver with v7.x.x all is already there.. I did take a look at the package files on debian's website and all is there.. phanfw.bin and all..
and firmware for that driver is the same on both version.. 4.0.82 :)
Hi,
I have a 4 node cluster on 7.4.17 and started to upgrade to 8.1.4.
First node went fine (this one is using the qlcnic driver as its a HP NC523SCP) , but second one, the 10GB nic is having problem getting working.
Its a "Hewlett-Packard Company NC522SFP Dual Port 10GbE Server Adapter"...
Maybe if its a cluster with ceph srtup with local drives but if lile my setup with a truenas as a iSCSI vm disk setup, if truenas fails, no matter how much nodes you have in the cluster, you wont be able to restore anything... unless the PBS disks are on a seperate server.
My primary truenas is core, not scale.
However, i could setup me second truenas with scale and setup PBS as a VM and use local XFS as PBS storage while also use the truenas side to setup replications to my primary.
While this looks good, I don't think I need a 15 window gap. I do need good backups as my VM OS are 2x Nvme drives in single disk.. so not much protection there but good speeds. I need to backup them to make sure I can restore them to another pool if needed.
i'd imagine that you're also using a...
Thanks, Thats the bit of info that was missing.
Can I install PBS as a VM with attached backup storage (not the primary TrueNAS in my case) in my PVE cluster ? Or do I need to install bare metal ?
Thanks ! :-)
Hi,
i'm looking into a backup solution for my homelab. Current setup is like this :
4x proxmox nodes.
1x TrueNAS serving iSCSI / NFS
iSCSI is for the VM / CT disks
NFS mainly for file storage from those VM / CT
For now, the trueNAS is only serving the proxmox nodes (dedicated network to all...
Hi,
I'm currently looking at building a 4 nodes proxmox and a TrueNAS backend.
Vm volumes will be on shared using ISCSI on truNAS.
My question is : Whats the best practice for the shared volumes accross multiple nodes ?
Sharing one big LUN and put LVM on top and have all volumes on LVM.
Is...
Thanks for the reply.. did some tests on my SDN
Zone: Backend
VLAN: Mig
added this :
auto Mig
iface Mig inet static
address 10.100.60.34/27
but still no interface is showing in the Migration Settings. Only the ones I set on the vmbr* bridges.
i'm I missing something ?
Hi,
Is there any way to use a SDN (in my case a defined vlan) with the migration network ?
(datacenter level) --> Options --> Migration Settings
Only thing possible is to use a local Bridge WITH an assign IP . (does not show in the dropdown list if there is no IP set on the bridge)
and I...
Hi,
Playing around with SDN and i'd like to validate some configs.
i've setup a couple of VLAN on the vnet tab, also did the setup of those VLANs in my switch (Mikrotik CRS317) ports are tagged.
I installed a VM with all the vnet VLAN as individual interface and gave them each a IP if the...
Hi all,
I installed a proxmox ve 1.7 on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop (T7200 processor) for testing.
Everything is running great except for on thing.
When clicking on the "Open VNC console" on a windows XP KVM VM, it reboots it.
I have 2 windows machines and they both do the same thing.
on...
