I've been trying Proxmox on an old socket 775's and had no problem installing on a previous motherboard/system but recently bought an old intel board with the Q35 chipset. I expected as before, a trouble free install. However, although the motherboard can see the USB, it refuses to boot the...
Following online tuts it's supposed to be simple. There is even an automated script to install on proxmox that will download a backup and install...entitled 'Load MacOS on any machine' It would seem any machine except old machines.
I seemed to get it to work once but don't know how. Since then...
It was my own fault I had been fiddling with the vm's .conf file. I suddenly remembered what I had changed.
I've been unable to install MacOS with opencore because for some reason proxmox doesn't locate the opencore bootloader.
Normaly i dont have a problem, but after creating this current vm I cant delete it. I get this error: TASK ERROR: unable to parse volume filename 'macOS_Big_Sur_11.0.1__20B29_.iso'
I cannot answer that. I performed these steps after a fresh install. Others may have more knowledge on that. I would assume you need to do it first before creating anything else.
I followed a tut about adding a USB stick as a storage device. Now i want to remove it, but if i delete that storage then proxmox still looks for it at boot and wont boot when the usb stick is removed. How do i full delete this storage?
Damn....followed the tut to the end, got my usb backup drive in left column under storage, but when i click backup its not in the dropdown list, only showing local. Unlike in the video where he could get to usb, Maybe things changed in this version 7. The tut was for v6-2-6
yes thats right, but how do i get to the mount path that the guy says he is already in where it shows r'oot@pve2/#mnt'..bit confused. Mine just says root@jons-server. i want to get to the #mnt directory
Its about creating a usb to use as a back up source, how to format it and mount it to proxmox. its a youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZjMxdBPH7M&t=71s
I'm following a tutorial but in that tutorial they did not show how they got to this: 'root@pve2/#mnt' How do i get to this? what is the command? Ive looked about online and cant find it. Im totaly new to shell commands in proxmox Any help appreciated.
Ive already been investigating, but being new to this Im still unsure as it seems a bit of a mine field and roll of the dice. I just dont want to throw money away so was hoping someone might chip in with a system they have that works.
Ive seen this Dell PowerEdge T110 II Server, Xeon E3-1220, 8GB DDR3. No idea if it can support VT-d and passthrough and most of the sellers dont know either unfortunatly.
If this definatly doesnt suppost passthrough which i guess g33 chipset doesnt, can someone give me a budget model server that will definatly work with passthrough? Ive been looking on ebay but tbh I dont really know what im looking for. I dont want to splash cash and end up back at square one...
