I have a server I have installed PVE from CD, at boot it finds the installation CD and proceeds.
With PVE installed I am now unable to find the CRDOM device.
I am unsure of where to start here...
this is exactly the essence of my question...
Plex only needs read access however I have other CT servers that need write access.
The current solutions appears to be a one size fits all approach to permissions which does not work.
Was my screen layout ever a Proxmox layout?
Interestingly, I always use Firefox, never Chromium. When I opened Proxmox in Chromium for the screenshot and then reopened in Firefox it now looks like it should in Firefox.
p.s. Bottom line is I now have my CT storage being backed up. Thanks for...
I have CT that operates as a samba server and I wish to make the shares available to other CTs and VMs.
The following states samba shares should be referenced in fstab on PVE and then created as a PVE directory type storage...
Hi Tom, the screenshots I attached were done with Firefox.
I have opened the PVE page in Chromium, as attached and you'll see the screen looks totally different, matching yours.
It looks like either Firefox renders the site differently or Proxmox does not work with Firefox as well as other...
Hi Tom, thanks for the reply however I have NO idea what you are referring to.
This is an installation I downloaded from your site and has a subscription and has been upgraded via Proxmox only. There is not a single modification here.
All options in the CT have "edit" available except the root disk and mp.
In the picture you can see I have just added backup=1 vi 1005.conf and restarted the CT
Hi and thanks for the reply. On the GUI, under the resources tab of the CT, I am unable to edit either the mp or the root disk. The edit button is disabled. Only the resize disk option is available.
I have a CT samba server that has an 8GB LVM root disk and a 1TB LVM 2nd disk.
This 2nd disk is mounted as mp0 @ /srv/samba
I have a scheduled nightly backup that backs up all my VMs & CTs however the 1TB LVM disk is not being backed up.
How can I include this in the automated nightly backup?
We recently had an extended ADSL outage that caused significant problems.
We have a USB 3G modem that I would like to use if this occurs again.
How can this best be implemented?
Thanks in advance...
I have a USB 3G mobile modem we use for broadband backup.
I have configure it in PVE with an IP address etc.
My Question is how can I setup PVE so that I can plug it in an connect it to a VM?
PVE current has two vmbridges configured. Once for wan and one for LAN. Pfsense router manages the...
I am trying to restore a CT backed up from a machine being decommissioned and receive the following error:
TASK ERROR: unable to open file '/etc/pve/firewall/1017.fw.tmp.5399' - No such file or directory
The CT runs fine on the source machine however the files referred to above does not exist...
I receive an email notification when a backup succeeds but not when it fails, I have notification set to always.
The hook script mounts the external USB hdd with a label corresponding to the day of week. The following is logged to the console:
INFO: starting new backup job: vzdump --compress...
Not sure I am making myself clear... let me clarify.
I have two clients using Proxmox. Each night their backup reports are auto emailed to me by Proxmox.
Client A's email is received from pve.clientA.com
Client B's email is received from pve.MyDomain.com whereas it should be received from...
When my backups complete I receive an email from the wrong domain. The email is originating from my company domain and not the client's domain?
Under datacentre > options email are set to originate from root@$hostname and /etc/hostname has the client's domain...
Where do I set this?
Does this mean that to trim correctly I cannot use the VirtIO driver for my disks?
I understood this was required to get maximum performance in Windows VMs.
I have read your comments in another thread that Windows VMs also need specific HDD settings being:
You have to use VIRTIO SCSI as SCSI controller (OPTIONS tab)
You have to use SCSI as disk type (HARDWARE tab)
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-do-i-enable-trim.26151/
Thanks LnxBil, one further question if I may.
I understand TRIM informs the SSD of which areas of the disk are available for reuse. Having now enabled discard on my VMs virtual disks any future changes will be notified to the SSD as being available.
What about the areas that were written to...
