I *assume* the OSD encryption keys are stored on the root filesystem and not on the OSD disk directly. So, if you're using ZFS for your Proxmox Boot Disks, you could encrypt your rpool with a passphrase, which would effectively protect the OSD encryption keys in case the server is stolen.

This is still true for PVE 7.1-8. A proper error message would be welcome. :)

Upgrading your PBS sounds like the simplest solution here. If it is already able to keep up most of the time, a little pushup should let it get the job done. What are the hardware specs on your PBS machine and how is it connected to the network? 10G, 25G? Bonding?

Same here, on 6.4 and 7.0 moving an EFI disk while the VM is running is not possible. When the VM is offline, there were no problems in moving them. I'm using ZFS pools as storages in that case.

Bei NVMes könnte man ja glatt primarycache=metadata setzen. Die SSDs sollten ja lesend keine Probleme haben, auch ohne ARC.
