Thanks for the help. Finally got around to reinstalling proxmox. Web gui works fine this time around using https, so I'm guessing that was my problem the first time.

I think I tried that. Does it implement auto redirect to https? Is an empty response page expected in the case of non-secure http? That particular HW has since been repurposed but I'm willing to give proxmox another try.

Browser retrieves the page. The page is empty. Yes I can ssh.
