This actually solved my issue. The backup completed successfully for the first time. I will continue to monitor it and give more feedback if it happens again.

maybe this helps - could be the e1000e issue, if you have an intel nic on your optiplex you have to disable hardware offloading otherwise the nic may hang

Wie bereits erwähnt ich hab alle Netzwerkkarten E1000, E1000E ,.... jeweils mit und ohne Firewall durchprobiert. Keine config hat geholfen. Aber Danke für die Unterstützung.

Not sure if this is relevant information, but i saw someone ask for results from journalctl -b 0 | grep e1000e. I dont really know what the results mean, but attached the image. I also pinged 127.0.0.1 which worked, but i dont know if that really says anything.
