I would like to know is it possible to install Proxmox 2 nodes cluster (+ Qdevice outside the cluster) into Dell VxRail E660 server?
Here is my server spec:

CPU: Intel Xeon Silver 4314 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 256GB
Storage controller: Dell HBA355i Front
NIC: 2x 1GE + 2x 10GbE

Thanks for your comment.

In most cases the answer is "yes", unless your hardware is a bit more obscure and doesn't have drivers in the Linux kernel. In general, while we cannot really guarantee that any given hardware is supported by the Linux kernel, most vendors will usually make sure that theirs is.

That being said, I dug up an older post regarding a variant of the storage controller you posted, so I'm quite sure that you'll be able to install Proxmox VE on your servers just fine.

Side note: I do recommend running your HBA in JBOD mode so that you can use ZFS with it ;)

Hope that helps!

Try booting the latest Ubuntu ISO to a live environment and see it is detects all devices. If that works then the Proxmox Linux kernel will most likely detect the same devices and use the same drivers. Or boot the Proxmox 9.2 installer and drop to a shell to check device/driver support. But that kernel is a little bit older now.

Since the base reference PowerEdge server for the E660 is the R650, it should work. I suggest you "de-brand" it to a standard R650. That requires flashing the PowerEdge Identify Module, factory reset the iDRAC, then flash the R650 BIOS, iDRAC, and any other firmware (NIC, etc).
