"kvm: warning: Machine type 'pc-i440fx-5.1' is deprecated: old machine version is subject to deletion during current major Proxmox VE release
WARN: current machine version 'pc-i440fx-5.1+pve0' is deprecated - see the documentation and change to a newer one
TASK WARNINGS: 1"

So is this only if we move from Proxmox 9 to 10 (in the future) for example?
And, to fix it, is it just as easy as changing the machine type or are there any 'gotchas'?

I haven't come across this kvm warning with PVE as yet (upgrade path PVE7->8->9). But I have encountered it after upgrading a regular Debian 12 desktop to Debian 13. The machine was unsupported and qemu would not even start. The kvm guests affected by the deprecated machine types were ancient windows 7 and ubuntu VMs, created under an old Ubuntu kvm host. I saw no problems after changing their machine type. But, I suspect more recent windows versions may need more work after seeing a change of virtual platform.
