I've been using Proxmox for about two months with no issues whatsoever. Today, I decided to install a new Proxmox machine and create a cluster before setting up the new machine. Creating the cluster seemed to go fine, but then I tried to change my current node's name, which led to a downward spiral of errors and problems. After rebooting, things got even worse, I lost access to everything. Since I didn’t set up any backup solution, I’m left with only the VM and container files. I think the best solution in my case is to reinstall Proxmox entirely, but I need to back up every VM and container before doing so. Has anyone experienced this before? What's the best way to prevent situations like this?

Per https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Renaming_a_PVE_node#Change_Hostname you can edit corosync.conf.
Easier is not to rename.
With only 2 nodes if one is offline the cluster is not over 50% so is offline and that triggers reboots. Add a QDevice for a third vote or adjust the number of votes for a server (a bit dangerous with two).
