  1. Is it possible to passthrough a partition of a drive to a VM? and not the entire disk?

Yes I know it's not good to have both on the same SSD, but my utilization of the NAS is so minimal that I am not too worried, and not only SSDs die sooner or later, but all medium. Yes as long as the pool drives are OK and I have a config file, if I loose the OS, replacing the boot drive (in...
  2. Is it possible to passthrough a partition of a drive to a VM? and not the entire disk?

Hi, you might find my question weird, but I have a good reason for asking this. I want to partition an nvme drive with 3 partitions, then I want to create a Truenas Scale VM in Proxmox, and to present each partition to the Truenas in a such a way that the VM sees a full block device drive not a...
  3. Using Proxmox as NAS for different VMs + Windows Clients

For me is quite stable, and I prefer it to Proxmox which is not a storage system per say, and it's too complex (75% of the things you have to do them command line). The GUI of Proxmox is really a joke, very basic. I used to work with Hyper-V and VMware for years and there is no comparison.
  4. Using Proxmox as NAS for different VMs + Windows Clients

Try Scale it's a different ball game.
  5. [SOLVED] Proxmox GPU passthrough - I can’t see the VM GPU output on the Proxmox monitor

I didn’t reach that point of testing audio, but I think you have to passthrough the audio controller of the mtb
  6. [SOLVED] Proxmox GPU passthrough - I can’t see the VM GPU output on the Proxmox monitor

I'm glad it worked for you too. Have you ever been able to pass through an iGPU? (Intel in my case)
  7. Is Proxmox 7.latest / 5.13.19-4 fully using the power of the 12th gen Intel CPUs?

In other words, is the latest Proxmox and the actual kernel capable to fully use all the P-Cores and E-Cores at their maximum ring core frequency? Or the Alder Lake P-cores will be running crippled at 3.6 GHz? I know this is more a Debian issue not a Proxmox issue, but I'm pretty sure some...
  8. [SOLVED] How to recuperate the VM files after a Proxmox reinstallation

Yes Mr. Famous Member, I followed your directions and it worked perfectly. To attach the old disks I had to edit the /etc/pve/qemu-server/<VMID>.conf manually in order to replace the new drives with the unused ones. I found no way to change something in the GUI in Hardware / Hard Disk...
  9. [SOLVED] How to recuperate the VM files after a Proxmox reinstallation

But I don't have an answer to the question, how do I get my VMs back when I have the virtual drives?
  10. [SOLVED] How to recuperate the VM files after a Proxmox reinstallation

Actually I am answering myself to my initial question. I thought it was possible using the GUI to get back the previous directories / mounts of the drives after a Proxmox reinstallation. But not, it's not possible to use the GUI. Use the shell. The GUI is really rudimentary, it lacks a lot of...
  11. [SOLVED] How to recuperate the VM files after a Proxmox reinstallation

No backups. For now, for me this is just a practice environment at my home. I'm retired IT guy, Solaris, Windows, sysadmin, worked with Vmware and Hyper-V. I admit I'm new and learning Proxmox, but if this is not possible, Proxmox is far behind. The config of a VM is just a bunch of parameters...
  12. [SOLVED] How to recuperate the VM files after a Proxmox reinstallation

I had to reinstall Proxmox because for some reason it stopped booting. The VM files were installed in a dedicated nvme drive mounted on a directory called VM_Repository. The nvme containing the VMs was not destroyed, just Proxmos was reinstalled. I can see the nvme drive in Disks. However I am...
  13. I-GPU Passthrough question: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Anyone knows what drivers to blacklist for Intel Alderlake 12th Gen. integrated graphics in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf? I have Radeon, Nvidia and Nouveau. Do I need something specific for this Core i7 12700K integrated graphics? I ask because my I-GPU passthrough does not work Thanks a...
  14. [SOLVED] Forum admins - please do something to stop replacing character by eek emojis
