HDD UUID changes when passed-through from server to VM.
I performed HDD passthrough via the following command on PVE 6.2-4.
root@pve:~# qm set 140 -sata1 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD4003FZEX-00Z4SA0_WD-WMC5D0D5H090
update VM 140: -sata1 /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD4003FZEX-00Z4SA0_WD-WMC5D0D5H090...
I think that answers my question. My plan is to boot pve on some 2.5" sata drives in zfs raid1. All other storage will be fast with cache devices. I just didn't want HD boot drives to effect performance of VMs.
Does pve need/require super fast storage for the host itself. This assumes that the VMs all run off other storage than the boot system. Or, saying it in extreme ways, could proxmox run off of a thumb drive without slowing vms?
