Thanks for all the thoughts ... here's the deal! Clear the bios! On this board ... 1. Remove power 2. Remove bios battery ... 4. Short bios battery holder "+" & "-" leads together for a few seconds ... 5. Put it all back together ... Power up & reboot computer ... Lo & behold, it works! Dmesg...

Shows same thing ... ... kernel linux ubuntu 4.10.8-19 generic Ubuntu SMP ...shows single core ... single socket! Debian 8 shows same ... Memtest 386 shows correct ... and cpu runs Proxmox 5.0 ... How to find a "correct" kernel for Proxmox 5.0? Help!

Does this indicate a "flaw in the slaw"? Don't have Ubuntu 17.04. handy ... will follow up ... out of ideas! Thanks!

Loaded Version 5.0 Final tonight ... no love ... have another 6128 on order! I fail to understand. I've tried more than one 6276 ... barely runs ... only a couple of simple VMs! Film at eleven.

Unless I am missing something, here! Thanks for responding! I swapped with a second processor! Memtest show good processor(s), but Proxmox only shows 1 core, 1 processor! What a bummer! I hope that I am missing something! That means that all VMs can have a max of 1 core, 1 processor! Thanks, Tom...

Just 07/04/2017 found out that Proxmox Version 5.0 has been released. Built a (freshly formatted) USB with 5.0 and it loaded 5 times in a row without failure ... then burned a CD with Version 5.0 ... loaded to Proxmox 5.0 screen 5 times in a row without a failure. Must not have been me ... or...

Super Micro H8SGL-F using AMD 6276 and Proxmox 4.4 only shows as a single core, even though Memtest shows 16. It runs Proxmox 4.4, but what gives? Anybody?
