Well, works and works is not the same. I do have horrible experiences running SandyBridge CPU below Kernel 3.x, what is not any developers fault, more an Intel thing. Backports are always a workaround with compromises.
On the other side I have to work with RedHat installations in the field on...
Since I want to setup a new Proxmox VE instance here, based on Intel's SandyBridge hardware, I wonder if somehow a Linux kernel 3.x+ is available?

I'm still the opinion Soft Raid from Linux kernel is not the right way to to go, since it's handling is odd. Yes, CPUs do have a lot of power to handle these things in parallel, well at least you don't go for an Intel Atom or so ...
But the last weeks I pay some time in testing Intel RST2...
Well, I get instantly 10 different causes in my mind, what could be going wrong in your installation.
You have access to your server thru builtin vnc console?
Did the machine get a address from the correct DHCP pool? Can you double check it on your DHCP server?
Can the server ping other hosts...
Well, I would think about a change regarding this mindset ... ;) ... I do also hate to read hundreds of useless documentation pages, unfortunately often produced by open source developers. But whatever your opinion regarding M$ is, the documentation ist usefull and worth to read, at least the...

Proxmox is an enterprise solution like ESXi and not even VMWare does think about using software raid nor is there any recommendation. I do work over a decade in enterprise storage business, my customers are dealing with Peta-Bytes of data and not one of them does even think about RAID on...
Bummer, the USB stick workaround did cause the problem and I couldn't see it in prior ... :(
Installation does run succesfully, making machine bootable. Here starts the issue, because USB stick is "/dev/sda" and my target disk "/dev/cciss/c0d0". Grub itself will now be installed on the first...

Ok, so you think this might be just a simple grub installation problem? Why not, the former installation was Ubuntu server, maybe something wasn't overwritten correctly, I'll give it a try ...
I need to fix it on ther server, because I do use a HP Smart Array Controller and cannot pull...
Hi there,

Installation did obviously work, but problem is now, proxmox does come up, the one and only I see on the connected Display is "Starting Operating...
