Yes, that's it basically.

The config of each vm/ct is included in that backup.
Of course, the config of your host need to backed up with rsync or smth. else.
Hello Jim,
you can add a nfs share or whatever local directory as a storage destination and enable backups for it and modify your backup job(s) to use this as your backup target.
So then you're able to backup to whereever you want it to.
I guess there is no zfs-tools way to directly send data...
Hello Jim,
I don't have such a big setup but still have the same issues, good how to backup data.
What my approach is to heavily rely on zfs based tools and a general tool that can to backup the operating system.

Make regular backups of your vm and LXC to another pool or at best...

Has anybody found out what needs to be done to fix this annoying issue?
Best regards

Good morning,
I prefer ansible for such use cases.
Thers are modules for proxmox available and I find it way more user friendly compared with chef/puppet.

Hello misterY,
did you check the aclmode?
I had some issues like you on freenas aswell.
Set from zfs aclmode=restricted to passthrough and see if this helps.
Best regards
true, you should atleast look for some durability tests before choosing your usb stick, keep enough space, etc...
anyway, the mentioned nas distributions (especially the freebsd based) have some special imaging to not write anything onto the usb stick, afair they just write everything to tmpfs...
