    Request migration vs immediate migration

Got it. I wasn't intentionally setting "ignore" but VMs were starting up that way. Appreciate the help, I can clearly see now how to change the behavior. Thanks!

    Request migration vs immediate migration

Thanks for the info! I was thinking it had to be related to the HA settings, but I check on these two, and the HA _settings_ are the same. However, interestingly the HA status is different :( Let me play with that. I agree I'm sure this is by design, I just want to know how to affect the...

    Request migration vs immediate migration

I'm hoping this is a simple one. Over time I have noticed that some VMs get into a state where when I migrate them, a window pops up saying "Requesting HA migration for VM 102 to node pve02" and I close this window. I see the migration will start shortly there after, and completes without a...

    Enable DNS cache

Well, not what I wanted to do, but I just put a static entry in the hosts file to calm down the queries. Annoying, but I guess will work for now. It would be nice if there was either built in DNS caching for PVE, or some recommended best practices for installing unbound, dnsmasq, etc in a...

    Enable DNS cache

Related too was that I had the same issue with Node-RED running on docker. For some reason it wasn't honoring the local systemd-resolved service, so I disabled it and replaced it with dnsmasq to cache for all my docker containers.

    Enable DNS cache

Thanks for your thoughts, but that is not a solution that would solve my issue. I too run redundant DNS servers (pfsense and pi-hole), both of which cache. In this case though too, the authoritative DNS is in fact the pfsense. I know I don't need to cache, but I would prefer to. It's mostly...

    Enable DNS cache

I feel this is an obvious question, but I just want to make sure I'm both understanding what I'm seeing correctly and that I follow recommended best practices. I mostly run Ubuntu as my servers (also Debian based) and for DNS cache it natively has systemd-resolved enabled. On some of my servers...

[SOLVED] Changed IP - no longer reachable - VLAN tagging

Just as an FYI for the someone else that might stumble on this and wants an example. To move from untagged to a specific vlan, here was my change: auto eno1 iface eno1 inet manual auto enp3s0 iface enp3s0 inet manual auto bond0 iface bond0 inet manual bond-slaves eno1 enp3s0...

[SOLVED] Changed IP - no longer reachable - VLAN tagging

OMG, duh. That would be too obvious! I'll check when I get back to it, but now that you said that, almost certain you are right. I read my post again, and I almost answer my own question with describing my tagging and the change. Thanks.

[SOLVED] Changed IP - no longer reachable - VLAN tagging

I have a slightly odd one here. I thought I did everything necessary and pretty carefully, but alas it would appear something is not right. I'm pretty comfortable with system administration and networking, so I thought I would be good. Clearly, I need some help though, so I'm hoping someone here...
