    Allow devpts mounts for LXC

I have a container that I use to maintain and host my personal repository of Arch packages. I build those in systemd-nspawn containers so I have nesting enabled. This setup used to work until a few weeks ago when a SystemD update rolled around. After some investigation I found the culprit to be...

[SOLVED] Privileged LXC with Arch fails to start network and systemd-nspawn

Hi Thomas, that did it. Oddly enough it also seems to have helped getting the interface up and connected when the container starts. Perhaps due to systemd's extensive use of containerisation.

[SOLVED] Privileged LXC with Arch fails to start network and systemd-nspawn

First off, I know that AppArmor is horribly broken right now. But if I understood that correctly this issue only affects unprivileged containers. Correct me if I'm wrong. I created a privileged container with archlinux-base_20190124. Config: arch: amd64 cores: 2 hostname: repo memory: 2048...

[SOLVED] NUMA mapping with Threadripper 2950X

Ok. Then how do I expose host cores 4-7 and 20-23 to the guest as cores 0-7? And how do I make sure all memory allocated to the VM is on the same host NUMA node? Not only do I want this for performance reasons, the VM also won't boot properly when given 16GB RAM, but works fine with 8GB. I...

[SOLVED] NUMA mapping with Threadripper 2950X

I'm having trouble getting NUMA mapping to work. I'm getting the error message kvm: -numa node,nodeid=0,cpus=4-7,cpus=20-23,memdev=ram-node0: CPU index (20) should be smaller than maxcpus (8) Here's my topolgy: Machine (47GB total) + Package L#0 NUMANode L#0 (P#0 31GB) L3 L#0 (8192KB)...

[SOLVED] AMD Vega passthrough on Threadripper 2950X

In case someone stumble across this: The solution was using the latest firmware for my Gigabyte AMD RX Vega 64. Version F2 as of writing this.

[SOLVED] AMD Vega passthrough on Threadripper 2950X

Nope. But it's good to know that cpu: host now works. Any idea what I should feed qemu's -d at to get more information?

[SOLVED] AMD Vega passthrough on Threadripper 2950X

Nope, that didn't do anything. I think I've tried all combinations. But honestly, I'd have been surprised if this had worked. I already have IOMMU groups than I care to count. The card has separate groups from the sub-devices. Updated original post with groups.

[SOLVED] AMD Vega passthrough on Threadripper 2950X

I've done what you suggested with minuscule success. With the romfile supplied the output of the card is at least blanked when the VM is started. But that's it. I've tried PCIE on and off (along with q35, obviously) and using the complete device or passing subdevices separately. It's always the...

[SOLVED] AMD Vega passthrough on Threadripper 2950X

Hi everyone, hope you had nice holidays. I'm back to fiddling around with my new box and the essential piece of the puzzle is getting passthrough to work. I've gone through the setup in the wiki and the pinned post here, so here's the current situation. # pveversion pve-manager/5.3-6/37b3c8df...

    [SOLVED] Windows guest on Threadripper

Hi WoLi, sorry for the long wait. Wanted to try if I can get it to work on Arch. I can't… '-cpu host' and '-cpu EPYC' works with 'ignore_msrs=1' though. Now the machine won't boot properly with the passed through Vega 64 after the driver was installed. But I guess that's a topic for a different...

    [SOLVED] Windows guest on Threadripper

Hi Wobu, I did. Also bluescreens.

    [SOLVED] Windows guest on Threadripper

1803 also crashes with host cpu. Also I added the no-subscription repo and updated qemu to 2.12. Is something more recent necessary for TR support?

    [SOLVED] Windows guest on Threadripper

So I have PVE 5.2 running on a TR 2950x. Ultimately the setup is to serve as host for gaming VMs and some web servers. I'm trying to get a Win10 guest up. Currently without VFIO. But even that very straightforward setup refuses to boot the install image with the error...
