installing subscription key via cli ?

Is it possible to install the proxmox subscription key via the CLI / command line interface / root shell? We are trying to automate the provisioning of our proxmox cluster. I've searched in /etc/pve for clues but didn't find any. Thanks! ~ Brice

Renaming a Node -- support for period (.) in node name?

Also -- if the unanimous decision is that NO; proxmox cannot handle a node name with a dot -- is there a method for RENAMING a node? Thanks!

Renaming a Node -- support for period (.) in node name?

According to `man hosts`, "Host names may contain only alphanumeric characters, minus signs ("-"), and periods (".")". I've successfully used hostnames with dots in them without problem for awhile now. It has been much less successful in proxmox / openvz where scripts seem to fudge things...

Renaming a Node -- support for period (.) in node name?

We have adopted a DNS naming scheme of: <location>.<server-role>.domain.net e.g. chicago-1.app-1.domain.net The location prefix easily allows me to sort our DNS records, and allows people to know WHERE/what server they're accessing. Thus I wanted to name our latest nodes (as part of a 3...

    HP Ethernet 10GB 530T

Alternatively you can swap Intel 10G SFP+ NICs in there. The broadcom drivers did not seem to have a good history with older kernels when I researched this... so we specifically went with Intel 10GBase-T (the copper ones even!).

What is the best storage solution for our needs?

WillieB, I STRONGLY recommend RAID-10 -- especially if you're running VMs underneath. RAID-5 isn't worth the headache; and worse yet if you're calculating parity with your CPUs and not a dedicated hardware raid controller. I love ceph; although recommend setting everything up in a test...

    Adaptec 1220SA

We just installed LSI 9266-8i cards in our proxmox hypervisors, and I was glad they work GREAT. 100% compatible w/ proxmox 3.1 out-of-box. The LSISAS2208 controller on these also beats the pants off of Adaptec's 6GB SAS Raid offerings. I do recommend you get a no maintenance BBU [capaciter +...

    HP Microserver g2020t

We had similar issues trying to install Proxmox 3.1 on a SuperMicro server sporting a Intel C606 SAS chipset connecting our hard drives. You can glean more information by dumping to the console [alt+F3 I believe?] It may by F2 or F4. The console should show an error message that can perhaps be...

New Kernel for Proxmox VE 3.1 and bug fixes

Is there an expected date for having the ISO installer updated with this release? I'd like to test this version for SAS chipset compatibility [Intel C606 motherboard] at our servers in a colocated environment (where require the ISO installer to work w/ our hardware out-of-box).

Proxmox VE on newer SuperMicros with Intel "Patsburg" chipsets?

^^ I updated my above post to include that I did indeed find a SAS related bug report in the OpenVZ 042stab081.3 kernel.

Proxmox VE on newer SuperMicros with Intel "Patsburg" chipsets?

I had used the old 3.1 ISO installer -- pve-kernel-2.6.32-23-pve (2.6.32-109), which is based on vzkernel-2.6.32-042stab079.5. I do not really have a means to test the new 3.1-111 until the ISO installer is updated! I don't have a base OS on these servers yet.... Of interest: There appear to...

Proxmox VE on newer SuperMicros with Intel "Patsburg" chipsets?

Jim, We ran intro trouble with the SAS controller on the motherboard (provided by the Intel "Patsburg" C606 chipset). The proxmox installer got to 99%, and then would fail to write to the MBR of the disk we were installing to. The error in console was SAS: errno -16 failed to reset device...

New to Prox - iptables - application firewalls

Roger. So the recommendation is to use iptables on the proxmox host/node, and to leave iptables unconfigured in the [OpenVZ] containers it runs... Our hypervisors have 4 NIC cards; 2 will be bonded together and attach to the private ports of our switch (e.g. VLAN 10 10.0.0.0/24), the other 2...

Proxmox on an HP ProLiant DL360p with 331FLR / Broadcom 5719 NIC

symmcom, I am thinking about going with a Supermicro X9DRW-3LN4F+ in 1U servers. It features 4 NIC ports but uses the Intel i350 Gigabit controller. Apparently there was trouble w/ this in Proxmox 2.0 see [http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/10004-Intel-i350-Gigabit-Network-Driver], but I figure...
