Just to follow up, setting unprivileged fixed the problem. Not sure how they got set that way to begin with but that's what it was.

I know this is a very old post but I just had the very same problem with pve7 and found that my hostname and /etc/hosts did not match up. Once corrected, pve-cluster launched correctly and all is good. Careful with those hostname edits :-0

I've checked the hardware out and it is fine. The problem follows the container. it does the same thing after being moved to a different node that was running flawlessly. After I posted, I found the container was set to privileged so I've backed up and restored as unprivileged. I'm hopeful...

We have narrowed this down to hylafax. When we disable hylafax during peak usage the server operates without crashing. Anyone have problem with hylafax in KVM? We are running hylafax+ 5.5.9 which connects to modems via DigiPort terminal server.

I have a problematic VM that randomly hangs with CPU usage pegged to the max. the load average goes 30+ and though I can ping the machine as normal, the console never responds and all users are locked out. Until the crash, the system runs under 1.00 load average. I have to stop/start to get it...
