Hello Martin

About of the PVE roadmap ( http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Roadmap ):

In a past roadmap (of PVE 3.1), I had read the drivers version of this product, after of this, I had posted about of new drivers version with the target of that in the new release these new drivers are included (In this way, we will all benefit):

1- Latest version drivers for broadcom 1 and 10 Gb/s:
http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/17321-Latest-version-drivers-for-broadcom-1-and-10-Gb-s

2- Latest version drivers for LSI megasas driver
http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/17322-Latest-version-drivers-for-LSI-megasas-driver

But now, with the data of roadmap for PVE 3.2, you don't tell us about of the drivers version, in this manner, for us will be more dificult give a alarm about of new drivers releases of his manufacturers.

My order:
Please correct the roadmap of PVE 3.2 and add the version of drivers that have added for this release.

In anyway many thanks to the PVE Developers team for the excellent and professional work done in PVE.

Best regards
Cesar

Thanks for your prompt answer Dietmar, but i see a incongruities:
1- The roadmap tell us about e1000 driver, but your FTP link of changelog don't show it.
Please see these links:
e1000e 3.0.4 driver version in https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=15817
e1000 8.0.35 driver version in https://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=9180

2- About of ARECA RAID drivers: the link FTP of changelog as also the roadmap don't show the driver version

Please, can you correct all these situations? (the good will be to have the latest versions supported in the kernel and be properly informed)

And i see that PVE 3.2 don't have the drivers in the latest version for these cases:
3- bnx2/bnx2x = 7.6.62 , but the latest version is 7.8.56
Please see these links:
For 1 Gb/s = http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii.php
For 10 Gb/s = http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii10.php

4- megaraid_sas = 06.601.06.00 , but the latest version is 6.602.03.00
Please see this link:
http://www.lsi.com/support/Pages/do...&assettype=0&productname=MegaRAID+SAS+9240-4i

5- aacraid = aacraid-1.2.1-30300.src.rpm , but the latest version is aacraid-linux-src-1.2.1-40300
Please see this link:
https://www.adaptec.com/en-us/speed/raid/aac/linux/aacraid-linux-src-1_2_1-40300_tgz.htm

My Order:
Can you put all these new version of drivers in the next release of PVE kernel and with the patch of Backup snapshot when this latter be declared as stable? (including "Areca" if it don't is the latest version)

In anyway for me PVE is fantastic, and congratulations for the great job deployed :)

Excuse me if i don't speak English very well, but my language native don't is the English.

Best regards
Cesar

Hi Dietmar and thanks for your answer.

Please let me to do a orders:

About of e1000:
I don't see (in your ftp changelog and the roadmap) that version of the e1000 drivers you have installed, and the lastest version is 8.0.35, see: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&changeLang=true&DwnldId=9180
My order:
1- Can you add the version number in both, or in his default tell me by this medium what version that have included in the ISO of PVE 3.2?
2- And if the latest version isn't supported, can you put this new version of drivers in the next release of PVE kernel?

About of e1000e:
- In your link FTP of changelog i see that the version of e1000e is 2.5.4 for the kernel 2.6.32-110
- In the roadmap of PVE 3.2, i see that say "updated Intel network drivers for e1000e, igb and ixgbe", and unfortunately i don't see nothing about of number of version
- I see in this link of Intel that the latest version is 3.0.4 : https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=15817
My order:
1- Can you add the version number in both, or in his default tell me by this medium what version that have included in the ISO of PVE 3.2?
2- And if the latest version isn't supported, can you put this new version of drivers in the next release of PVE kernel?

About of igb and ixgbe:
i see that have the latest version, nothing to say.

About of Realtek PCIe drivers:
- As many people (small and medium business) use for test and/or production environments the NICs Realtek, i see in this link that the latest version is the 8.0.38
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...d=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
- This latest version is easy of compile, and for use it, i add the old Realtek driver of the kernel to the blacklist (r8169).
My order:
1- Can you put this new version of drivers in the next release of PVE kernel?

Awaiting your answers, i say you soon
Best regards
Cesar

We use the module provided by the upstream kernel.

I already corrected the in git.

Feel free to send patches.

Hi Dietmar and thanks for your answer.

But, where can I see it (with the number version of course)?

I already corrected the in git.

I don't see it in the git ( https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-kernel-2.6.32.git;a=summary ) ... ¿? ¿?

Feel free to send patches.

I could do it with pleasure, but unfortunately I just know how patch it in my PVE host, and don't know how i will send the patch. Can you explain me how send you the patch?

Notes:
1- If you answer me this question, also I could do other patches in the future and send it always that you want.
2- In the new Kernel 3.x, i don't know what version of Realtek will be installed, but i guess that will be a version more modern, i don't believe that be the latest version, and i can do a test for know it and send it again, based in the real/stable Kernel version of RHEL 7).

Best regards
Cesar

IMHO, sending patches only makes sense if you are a developer. Basic steps are explained here:

https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Developer_Documentation

I am not developer, then i see 3 options:
1- You or other developer will make the patch... :)
(also, i can ask to a developer for do it in this forum if you allow it)
2- Explain me in detail how do it. (that if you do it, i can in the future send more patches)... :D
3- Nobody will make the patch... :(

What do you suggest?

What is the question?

No is a question, is a assertion, because i want to contribute with PVE

Finally: what about of my question about of the version of e1000 driver????

Re-Edit: Actually the version of LSI megaraid_sas Driver 6.602.03.00 that i was saying above in this thread is old, the new version is: 6.602.03.00-3
please see in:
http://www.lsi.com/support/Pages/do...ttype=Driver&productname=MegaRAID+SAS+9240-4i

4.) pay someone to make the patch?

We will not touch that driver - instead we will use the version delivered with upstream kernel.

yes, also is a option

But in that link can i see the version??????

And can you add to the next kernel release the latest version of LSI megaraid_sas that is 6.602.03.00-3, due to that the 6.602.03.00 version that i said above in this same thread at present is considered stale.

You need to scan the sources to obtain that info (or install the kernel and use modinfo).

I just updated that driver a few days ago.

Only as a comment:
Right, but in the git ( https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-kernel-2.6.32.git;a=summary ) i read: "update megaraid_sas to 06.602.03.00", and the latest version is 6.602.03.00-3 that you will can to see in this link:
http://www.lsi.com/support/Pages/do...ttype=Driver&productname=MegaRAID+SAS+9240-4i

Also thanks for the clarification about of e1000 driver, and I wish you the best of success, PVE is a fantastic product !!! :D
