HP ProDesk 600 G5 SFF i5‑9500

Hi,

there's no official hardware certification list for Proxmox VE. Since it's based on Debian, it runs on pretty much any standard x86_64 hardware that Debian supports. The HP ProDesk 600 G5 SFF with the i5-9500 should work fine – the CPU supports VT-x and VT-d, so virtualization and PCI passthrough are possible.

One small tip: the onboard Intel I219 NIC can occasionally show "Hardware Unit Hang" messages under load. If you run into that, disabling offloading (e.g. ethtool -K <interface> tso off gso off) usually helps.

Just to be clear though: a desktop PC like this is great for a homelab, testing or learning, but it's not suitable for enterprise or business-critical workloads. It lacks things like ECC RAM, redundant power supplies, enterprise SSDs and remote management. For production environments, proper server hardware is strongly recommended.

Thank you, I already have a cluster with three knots and vm on nfs, I just wanted to create a cluter on another location where I have a laboratory. Being sff I could buy 4 port sff nics, increase the memory to 32 GB. The pc costs 250 euros I don't know if high or low, but the CPU should be discreet at the performance level. As for the nic I have already provided on my cluster as on board are integrated some intel cards and thanks to the script available on the internet, I solved the problem of the hung when the server goes in over load of processing. In short, on amazon italia among the many this is perhaps what is for me for consumption, because these will be connected in the electricity grid on my 5 kwh off grid system.
Other Alternative :

Pc Computer Business, Desktop Dell sff, pronto all'uso, Core i7 6th, Ram 16gb DRR4, Disco SSD 512 Nvme,
