1) From reading, there seems to be an issue with Windows VM guests, kernels beyond 7.0.2, cpu=host, and CPU usage spikes resulting in freezing or a completely unusable system.
We first detected this on our terminal services jump host, where it would periodically drop the MSTSC session and take 30-60 minutes to allow reconnect. Upon rebooting it, CPU usage stayed at 100% and it was completely unresponsive until I halted it and set it to x86-64-v3.
I realize this is probably already being tracked, I just wanted to add our experiences.
2) With Windows 2025, Windows 2022 post 25H2, or Windows 11 post 25H2, x86-64-v4 is completely unusable. Boot takes forever, some services timeout, and simple navigation like the menu bar prove impossible.
The 2nd issue, we've seen at least since Proxmox VE 8.x, if not before.
