I'm a newbie with Proxmox.

In my company we chose to use an old LVM-Thick storage layout to correctly track the disk space used by VMs. Obviously, I did some research and noticed that LVM-Thick does not support snapshots. However, I later read that in Proxmox 9.1 snapshots are supported even on LVM-Thick.

I tried to create a snapshot on the VM, but I noticed that the option is greyed out. Could someone help me understand why and how to take a snapshot?

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean exactly with "correcly track used space on system summary with lvm thin?"
Where do you see space tracked incorrectly with LVM-thin?

when you create a VM on LVM Thin with cqcow2 on system summary you have only the space used by vm and not the space you've allocated for that vm.
We are afraid of vm overprovisioning.
Is there a way to graphically visualize the storage space provisioned for all vms

@santd , you said you are running LVM THICK. You then correctly pointed out that there is new functionality available for THICK variant of LVM. This was confirmed by @cheiss, and you were advised that you need to edit your storage pool definition and enable the new option.
It seems you got confused and drifted to THIN LVM and reinstallation of the system. There is no need to reinstall anything, just edit the storage defition.
