Cluster design question 1 big cluster or 2 + 1

Hi

So lets say

3 mini pc - the beelink 12G N150's

1 Laptop

3 Dell Ru servers

currently I have 7 node cluster - but I am wondering would it be better

3 Dell server - with Ceph - 80T of storage here

3 beelinks - another cluster

stand alone Laptop - i for the GPu :) it was lying around

My only reason for making 1 cluster is ... i want to be able to move vm/lxc around easily . with out having to export / import or backup delete and then import.

About to go through another rebuild phase

I haven't used the proxmox datacenter manager program - would that help ?
 
Hi, maybe 1 ceph HCI cluster with the 3 Dell Servers (10Gbit NICs mesh or connected via switch) ..... plus another cluster with the 3 mini PCs which use the dell ceph cluster also as shared storage for their VMs
with PDM it should then be possible to move also VMs between these clusters ... but PDM is currently still beta

the ceph mesh network setup is only if you want to save a switch/ports for the cluster network in a 3 node setup
