How to install on a partition

I have partitioned an M.2 SSD into 2 parts.
If I install Proxmox, will I be able to choose the part I want to install Proxmox on or will the entire M.2 SSD become Proxmox?

The entire one but you can later remove space from preallocated setup in case of lvm or use space for a fileset if choose zfs (with zvol for vm's).

Canceling a pve installation is never a lucky solution as in the end there's no running pve available to you ...

You can also limit the size in harddisk options.

If you manually install Debian and Proxmox, the you can choose certain partition.
