[SOLVED] Can't upgrade node packages as LDAP user in Proxmox

I'm currently using Proxmox VE 8.3.5 (I know it's not the latest version, but I hope it's still okay to ask here).

I assigned the Administrator role to a user in the LDAP realm, but the Upgrade button for node updates is disabled and can't be clicked.
The Refresh action works fine, but Upgrade remains grayed out.

Do I need an active subscription for this button to become available?

I'd appreciate any insights or solutions regarding this issue.

I can't test it right now but shouldn't a non-root user be able to access the web console of ProxmoxVE (with sufficient permissions of course!)? Then the user could open a shell and do apt update&&apt dist-upgrade to update their ProxmoxVE node.
If I understood everything correctly on https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pveum.html#pveum_permission_management the user would need the "Sys.Console: console access to node" privilege or the PVESysAdmin to do that.

Thank you for your reply.

That’s a good suggestion, but since PVE offers an excellent Web GUI, I’d prefer to use that if possible.

For the time being, we’ve decided to share the root login credentials within our team.

It’s not a fundamental solution, but…

Thank you very much.
