building VM's from Ventoy.

I am trying to build a VM using iso as source on a standalone proxmox server. I got proxmox installed ok, and can start the management screen from my daily Linux system, but when I plug in a Ventoy USB into the server physical system, it is not seen by Proxmox, I've tried lsusb and see the various usb ports, but don't see the ventoy system installed. lsblk doesn't show the ventoy or the iso's installed on the ventoy device.
What am I missing regarding proxmox setup to build vm's from the ventoy thumbdrive ?
(This is my first adventure into proxmox, so a newbie....)

PVE uses Debian userland and an Ubuntu Kernel as its underlying bootstrap OS. There’s nothing special about PVE when it comes to accessing USB sticks directly on the hypervisor - it works the same as any other Linux OS.

After plugging in your device, check the output of:
dmesg
journalctl -n 100

If you don’t see any USB/device-related entries, it could indicate a bad disk or a faulty USB port.

First thanks for taking the time to review and reccommend action for my issue.
My server hardware is a standalone ddr3, fx8350,20GB of memory with a front loadable drive slot. The Proxmox system is a standalone drive but I have a clonezilla built copy of my daily Manjaro system which sees the Ventoy USB when I've booted my daily Linux.
Getting to my point, I discovered via your suggestions that I was getting an error and when searching for like issues discovered that I needed to set the IOMMU to enabled on the Gigabyte motherboard. That appears to have fixed the issue, though I now need to see if I can build a VM from the iso on the Ventoy USB that is plugged in.
So thank you so very much as your insight lead me to what I needed in the trouble shooting process.
