Any recommendations on “gaming” GPU for VM

Hi!

So I guess I don’t expect to have a straight up flawless experience doing anything visual through a VM but was really wanting to find a GPU where I can, though a VM and on same LAN, experience Gnome top of the line and yeah, some gaming.

I am good for spending $$ if it’s legit but hoping 100-200 range.

With that said, and in a separate card recommendation, do they make cards where you can split to 2-3 vms for gnome/gaming, out of curiosity

Thanks friends

The main thing is to avoid cards that do not work well with reset in virtual machines, because this has a painful effect on stability. It is almost impossible to split one card into several VMs without corporate solutions, so most often they use several separate budget cards, and this is easier than struggling with vGPU. In the end, it is better to take proven models whose drivers are normally compatible with Proxmox and the community has experience. I did not play heavy games for a long time. I either played browser games or read full review about platforms with good deposits and only then played. But over time, I gradually began to play hard games at my friends'. Later I wanted to buy myself a powerful system unit. In short, if you want to minimize risks and get a comfortable game through VM, take a separate card for each virtual machine, and the headache will be much less.
If you're looking for a GPU for a beefed-up VM experience and are willing to spend $100-$200, the NVIDIA GTX1660Ti ($179) or AMD Radeon RX6500XT ($160) are great options, as they offer decent performance in this price range.

Not so good if you are on Windows, but there are workarounds.

gpedit.msc

windows 11 startup script
Code:
pnputil /enable-device /class Display /bus PCI /connected

windows 11 shutdown script
Code:
pnputil /disable-device /class Display /bus PCI /connected
