Bios - 2.16.0

We are trying to install 8.2 on our test host. We have had zero issue installing late versions of 7, 8.0, and 8.1. At first I thought it was a bios issue running (1.3.3) so I updated to 2.16.0 but still getting no hard drive found.

Any ideas?

Do you happen to have megaraid-sas supporting your server's RAID card on older PVE installations?

Hi,

Could you please provide us with the output of the `pveversion -v` command?
Is there a way to run this command during the install and/or at the point where it says the hard drive was not found?

As of now, I put that host on 8.1.4 and this is the output.

Edit - to add I'm trying this as a fresh install from a virtual CDRom in iDrac.

I ended up fresh installing 8.1 on the test host I was having issues on while we troubleshoot this issue. The existing version does indeed reflect megraid_sas

root@test-host1:~# lsmod | grep raid
raid6_pq 118784 1 btrfs
megaraid_sas 192512 4
root@test-host1:~#

edit - spelling

Some raid cards drive by magaraid_sas seems to be broken either due to secure boot/UEFI standard compliance or other don't-know-what reasons with kernel 6.7/6.8/6.9

Odd enough, some rebranded LSI cards (HP/Dell/etc) are working fine.

All of those RAID cards are history in where I work for, along with those old fancy 10K RPM spinning disks so I can only recommend staying with kernel 6.5 until you retire those cards too.
