Graceful shutdown

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'd like to shut down PVE and PBS servers on certain days/times and then automatically start them (via a smart switch).

I tested PBS and it seems that simply adding "shutdown" in crontab will work.

I wonder what other people do and if this is a graceful way to handle this.

I use rtcwake to shutdown and wake the system just before the next TV recording. Proxmox uses Debian GNU/LInux under the hood and the common shutdown command works as expected: graceful shutdown of all services including Proxmox and its VMs/containers.

I never used rtcwake any specifics why? Also what is "the next TV recording"?

I use it to shutdown the system until a certain time that I want to start it again. It puts the computer to sleep (as documented in the link I provided) and uses its clock to power on later.
It was just an example to show that you can shutdown and start your Proxmox any time you like. I run a VM on Proxmox to record my national TV broadcasts. Apologies for over-complicating things.
