Hello There,

I am seeing a email rejection for a valid domain and email address on PMG. MX is pointed to PMG.
Oct 27 20:26:53 asg postfix/smtpd[199823]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from mail.cert-in.org.in[XXX.XX.174.XXX]: 554 5.7.1 <valid.user@domain.com>: Relay access denied;

What is the possible reason for this?

You need to add your domains to relay domains (GUI->Configuration->Mail Proxy)

else PMG cannot know that it should accept mail for domain.com

I hope this helps!

When we had tested PMG before buying the subscription and I believe version 7.0.1. Mail flow worked by adding domain name and transport information. Did not add anything under relaying.

In 7.0.8, we had to add information under relay domain for mail flow to work. Is this expected behavior?

yes you need to add the domain under relay domain - this has been this way since at least PMG 5.0

Maybe you tested sending mail via the internal port? (there access control is based on the IP (GUI->Configuration->Mail Proxy->Networks)

No, MX is pointed to PMG and PMG forwarding to mail server. This is how it was tested.

I can spin up test instance and share screenshot with you.

as said - for PMG to accept mail on its external port (25) it needs to be for a domain listed in GUI->Configuration->Mail Proxy->Domains

please provide the complete logs for the message above - maybe there's something else (or some other system) generating the message
