Dear all,

I just upgraded my machine from 5.4.XX to 6.3-6-6.3.
The new Proxmox environnement runs fine.

One some VMs, when I ssh and try, for instance to 'systemctl restart apache2' (or any other service), I get the following error:
---
System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can't operate.
Failed to connect to bus: Host is down
---

It seems a bit strange, because the machines (Proxmox and VMs) are running OK..

Just in case this might help someone...

Thank you in advance if you spend some time for me...

* What kind of guests/VMs are showing this problem (Qemu-VM or lxc container)?
* Please share the config of a guest showing the problem
* Which OS is running inside the guest?

Hello Stoiko,

Thank you for your help.
1- The only think that I can see is: throught the Proxmox console - options - QEMU agent : defautl (disabled). Where else can I check ?
2- What information do you need ? :-(
3- Debian 4.19.152-1

The guest has a unique ID (VMID - e.g. 100)
please post the output of:
* `qm config <VMID>`
* `pct config <VMID>`
(only one of the commands will work)

Here you are:
---

Given that this is a Qemu Virtual machine (running debian) I doubt that the reason for the error is related to the Proxmox upgrade:
Qemu VMs don't share the kernel with the hypervisor, but run as 'virtual computers'

-> Check the log/journal inside the VM - the issue is most likely only there

I hope this helps!
