Hello i tried proxmos VE on 2 computers at my location.
- enough HDD/SSD space
- amd64 platform
- installing as VGA installation

I have been messing for 3 hours on those 2 hosts and had to do a bare metal backup of the hosts dedicated to run proxmox in the future.
The instalaltion does not detect the SSD (gentoo and Manjaro linux did without problem). With proxmox i get consistently get an error at boot time (for 1 minute at kernel boot until it times out) "error ata2 softreset failed".

After install i get presented with a ip address and port. The webinterface is still not accessible from any other host. the bridge configuration of proxmox is set to the correct network card after installation (i have 2 NICS). The host can be pinged from any host in the network, but the browserinterface times out when i try to open the address.

Because SSHd connections are refused i had to walk to the server again and log in on the terminal directly. I have read that sometimes apt-get update and upgrading several packages to the newest version solves the problem. However i get a "HTTP 401 Unauthorized" error from apt-get update command.

After all i am greatly dissatisfied with the user experience, having tried proxmox version 6.0 before and stumbling across similar problems.
This should by no means be a rant but more reason to improve the installation process. As for now i can not use or recommend this software in its current state for virtualization, because i can not even get past the installation process without hassle and theconfiguration interface is inaccessible.

(The version i am using is proxmox-ve_6.1-2.iso)

Kind regards,

Gentoo and Arch use the more current upstream kernel. While Proxmox runs a slightly modified Ubuntu Kernel, v5.3 and v5.4 in the next release. Depending on your hardware, it might be not supported yet.

No, it is. But I understand your frustration. Though you did not provide any information (eg. hardware details) that others could help you.
