Highpoint RocketRaid 2710 support

Hi,

i just tested the latest installer to work with the highpoint rocketraid 2710, but it just displays the harddisks itself.
I read somewhere in the changelog that the support was added in one of the past releases.

Why is the highpoint driver not included anymore?

because that company does not ship drivers for newer kernel.

you can try and send highpoint a support ticket http://highpoint-tech.com/websupport/ .
Ask for a Kernel 4.x Driver.

normally they provide one for you (even tho they do not list em on their Website for download)

My interest to include hidden, non public, drivers into the kernel is very limited ...

i think its more a "we are to lazy to upload the drivers for old hardware to our website, or we don't for 'marketing reasons' " on Highpoint's part. But your right, as a distroprovider i'd not add such drivers by default.

was meant as a solution for MasterTH's problem (not having a working controller)
