Thanks for the reply! I also contemplated putting in a m.2 drive via PCIE 3.0 card to strictly hold proxmox so I don't touch the 8 drives at all. Would that still be a good idea? Something along these lines PA09-X1 M.2 NVMe to PCIe 4.0 X1 Adapter
That sounds like it would work well. Thanks! So it just maps the guest UID to the same host UID? Are there any non obvious security implications that I should keep in mind?

Hi,
ZFS memory consumption is configurable and Proxmox VE takes 10% of total memory for ARC cache per default .... so this should not be a problem .... if no HW Raid Controller exists then ZFS is the only supported SW RAID solution ... 2...
I have VM which runs an app requiring low latency as close to bare metal as possible. Note it is not a game but something doing compute. Maybe putting such in a virtual environment isn't the best scenario but I'm going to try

This has been a real learning experience. Thanks so far for your help. I plan to do this today but there are 3 lingering questions before I start.
1. I want to get everything running again before I begin deleting files (if possible).
Once I...

I experienced the same issue with a Linux guest and a VirtIO-FS share containing about 1.3 million files.
In my case, the host filesystem is ext4 on LVM.
virtiofsd continuously increased its number of open file descriptors and hit its limit...
... although OCFS2 has some nice features - with reflink in combination with raw (sparse) files you get FS native/clustered thin provisioning and snapshots ... and maybe raw is also not so vulnerable as qcow2-on-cluster-FS .

I am also reporting this upstream to the AMD DRM/AMDGPU developers,
because the evidence currently points toward the AMDGPU/VCN path.
I am posting here as well because the affected kernel is

There are some hints for that in https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pveceph.html#pveceph_cephx_how_it_works section, but we did not want to blow the docs up completely.
But roughly, active ceph sessions authenticated with the a ceph...
Is it normal that empty PVE hosts take up to 11% memory usage?
My hosts have 125,57GiB and 13,55 GiB is already in use without any VMs on it.
I already found a few "consumers", but I can't explain the entire 13,55 GiB
