Rolled back the changes on Veeam settings, now I am running CEPH as backup cache on Veeam - default option (largest storage available).
Performance got even better after the changes, roughly 150MB/s - 400 MB/s when testing it out while backup...
Obviously this is possible, since anyone can compile the kernel as he sees fit.
However, I do not believe that Proxmox VE or their community needs to invest time nor resources to maintain (extreme) EOL systems.
I also believe Johannes S is...

I don't know the specific reason. But basically: (PCI-bus)- interface names are not stable. They may mutate on hardware changes and on the advent of new kernel modules.
That's why "pinning" was introduced...
Oh gosh, I've found the error. My interface is actually eno2 but /etc/network/interfaces had eno1. It's working now. Thanks, all.
I'd like to learn something here. Why would my interface name change in the process of carrying my host PC from one...
The idea of backups is to make then before problems happen. If you want someone else to read and summarize the forum about similar issues, I would suggest a ChatBot/LLM or paying someone for support. The volunteers might want to spend their free...
You shouldn't just "consider" it except you enjoy getting hacked due to unpatched security issues:
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-ve-7-is-vulnerable-to-some-type-of-0day-rce-non-auth.186078/
If you are not able to keep you production...
yep, I tried etckeeper today with Proxmox 9 and ran into a problem. I found this thread and saw that @mac.linux.free successfully solved the problem, so I asked him "how exactly" ;)
BTW, I solved it too:
1. Update the...
We are excited to announce the first release of Proxmox Virtual Environment with official support for a second CPU architecture: 64-bit ARM (arm64/aarch64). Until now, Proxmox VE was available for x86-64 (amd64) only.
Proxmox VE 9.2 for arm64...
I solved the issue, I had a separate OS on it prior to this and a few configs were changed for that OS and it was preventing it from installing proxmox.
Please write your Dell representative and ask them for proper PVE support. The more people ask this, maybe they'll work something out. Unless this happens and maybe hell frozes over, I fully agree with @bbgeek17.
I have some progress with Veeam and CEPH on my behalf. On backed up VM - which is located on CEPH storage, I changed following settings and tried backups after (one by one and tried everything out):
----
TEST1:
We upgraded Proxmox VE from 9.2.5...
VMware hasn't exposed VT-x/EPT to the Proxmox VM. Proxmox's boot process is failing to get hardware accelerated CPU access.
- Enable "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI" or "Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS" on the...
Systems without current system updates can be hacked, nothing is "new" or "urgent" on this. And PVE7 and PVE8 won't get any security updates any more so it's somehow expected that they get owned. Even if you don't connect them directly to the...
note that historic rrd/task data (etc.) will not be migrated over, so you might loose some rrd/task history (though i'm not sure if it's safe to just simply rename those folder/filenames too, they would be in /varlib/proxmox-datacenter-manager/ )
The world would also be better without greed, wars, etc., but we have to take things as they are.
All I'm suggesting is that the bug existed while Proxmox 7 was still supported (which was confirmed by devs) and it only became public few days ago...
My Proxmox is installed inside VMware.
When I try to boot, I only see the Proxmox screen. I attached the screenshot in the first comment.
Only the KVM inside Proxmox is enabled; I didn't enable KVM when installing it on top of VMware, it is...
