Proxmox VE can be configured to update automatically (see "apt info unattended-upgrades"). This is a Debian feature and I think there are good reasons for it to not be enabled by default (e.g. you don't know what else the admin has installed, do...
PDM verwendet denselben Rust...
These days... practically nothing is certain, especially with so many entrepreneurs out there. And so many outdated systems that aren't updated. It's not one tool or another... it's just a series of oversights that lead to disaster.
What could be done to improve your feeling? Maybe switch to HyperV or VMware or Citrix and connect them directly to the internet without updating for years? I don't expect anyone to not update those for years at a time. How's Proxmox different...

Systems without current system updates can be hacked, nothing is "new" or "urgent" on this. And PVE7 and PVE8 won't get any security updates any more so it's somehow expected that they get owned. Even if you don't connect them directly to the...
Some people in this community are being toxic. This attack was clearly caused by a security vulnerability in PVE, a 0day, yet many are still blaming users for not running the latest version, PVE 9.
However, several points need to be considered...

https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Windows_7_guest_best_practices and you will likely need a super old Virtio driver to even have the Windows 7 drivers can be found here https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-virtio/
It gets pretty complicated to do without backups but here's what I would do:
Create a fresh new VM and install Windows on it and boot into it, set it up as per usual so you can get to the desktop.
Then I would reassign both disks over to the...
Maybe this (which I found using this search) will help: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/recover-from-grub-failure-cant-find-lvm.121861/#post-529751
Your Proxmox VE is many years out of support and vulnerable to a lot of things. Please install...
It's not exactly what you asked for but I know of people who uses the ProxmoxBackupServer for backing up the vms and containers and additionally Veeam Agent or some other tool (e.G. barman or pg_dump for postgresql ) to have application-aware...
