Virtual machine support is better classified first by CPU architecture rather than by the guest OS itself. At this point, the relevant architectures are x86 and ARM.
The next question is whether the guest OS supports the virtual hardware...
Hi Frankz,
Ok, now I understand, thank you. Yes, in studying those CPUs, I can see clearly that three of them would offer you a substantial upgrade:

Hello dear, what I showed you is a cluster already in production in another location. I’m preparing a second cluster for my laboratory, and for this reason I had shared the images: they were only used to show the characteristics of the CPUs...
You can also change the VM HA state from "started" to "igniored".
VM -> Upper right corner: [More] -> manage HA
Then do your changes/testing/restart(s) , and when you are finished change back to "started".

I'm a bit impatient/disappointed because in the case of this long ago proposed change:
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-installation-via-pxe-solution.8484/
it was almost immediately integrated into Proxmox ISO, and...
If you want to repair the original installation, I would first inspect the old disk from the new Proxmox install before making any changes.
For example, check whether the old root filesystem, /boot, and VM configuration files are still present...
Hi Frankz,
Wow what a mishmash of random computers you have. I don't quite understand your problem, however. What is it you're looking for someone to advise you on? The storage, the CPU specs? If it's a laboratory, the best thing is to...
In the past, we did the same, but with thick-LVM of all storage space and use the ZFS-over-iSCSI appliance for all stuff, that needs a snapshot. We migrated the VM online to the other storage, did the intended stuff and migrate it back.
IIRC...
Hey, I still have not solved the issue with grub running out of memory on boot. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help. Many thanks!
VM would have higher overhead, though, a big negative for real-time applications such as MIDI.
I don't see what the isolation buys you in this case, also.
@esnmb Proxmox HA is more of a “what state is it supposed to be” thing. PVE doesn’t know why it is off, it just knows it’s supposed to be running. The web GUI tells HA it should be stopped therefore the guest is asked to stop.
Gotcha, understand completely thanks for the feedback. I still support very old systems, which is why I was hoping you guys or the the original poster can provide guidance on updating it for proxmox 9. We are planning to move to iscsi+mpio and...
I have never used the rescan-scsi-bus.sh command you are referring to and have never experienced the issue you are experiencing. So, I am guessing your issue is related to this command.
Here are the steps I use. Obtained from various sources...
This is awesome news! Just manually installed it on Pi5, and working great, sadly not sure a 8GB Pi is quite enough memory, but was a nice POC.
