Hi, we want to upgrade our cluster from PVE 8 to 9, which also means upgrading Ceph.
Our plan is to move the VMs to local storage first, then upgrade Ceph, and then upgrade the kernel.
Of course, we have image backups, but we have a few...
First off, there is already a Bugzilla tracking this issue dating back to 2018: https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1856
Proxmox has grown significantly in enterprise adoption since then. It's time to bring this issue to resolution...
-...
There have also been patches supplied to get this into the API, which is from I understand the main problem right now:
https://lists.proxmox.com/pipermail/pve-devel/2025-September/075183.html
One thing I would consider is the availability of support. While the Proxmox Datacenter Manager (despite it's still limited feature set compared to vcenter) is covered by Proxmox support beginning with basic subscription level I'm not aware of...
Best advice is to not use it and don't change anything on your hypervisor. If you fear ssd wearout, just buy small and used enterprise SSDs. The amount of time you have to put in to get it to work is much, much more than just buying the SSDs.
You say that you're using LVM-Thin, so I'm assuming you're using a hardware RAID? Then you'd need to check what your hardware RAID controller is capable of and whether it can add an explicit cache.
If you can or want to use ZFS, is there an...
You're totally right with your assessment about the PVE subscription cost per socket as the only cost you have. It's open source, so you could also run everything without any licensing/subscription cost and of course then without any support. I...
Hi,
seems like this issue is still open. We are using S3 on idrive-e2. No chance to restore / verify if the vm size is 300GB.
We've tried multiple rate in limits (100 / 50 MiB/s) - still no luck.

Hello Proxmox Team,
We are currently evaluating Proxmox VE with Ceph as part of a large-scale virtualization assessment and would appreciate some clarification from the community regarding licensing and operational costs.
From my understanding...
I got the problem again this morning. There are no processes in the "D" state currently. I had to reboot the host to regain any control on the PCT containers.
Unfortunately, no useful logs are present in dmesg.
Does anyone have an idea of what's...
Kommt halt immer darauf an was man erwartet und was nicht.
PVE8 doesn't get any security and other bug fixes anymore, see: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-ve-support-lifecycle.35755/
So you need to upgrade to PVE9 as soon as possible to continue getting security and other upgrades and then you...
