Seems more like the agent you’re using isn’t properly built, since ZFS can do things like compression and deduplication, du/df isn’t an accurate way of representing the ZFS volume. This one seems to be closer to what you want to do... -

I actually find ZFS to be a lot simpler and more intuitive to use than LVM(-Thin). It's also more flexible as it can natively do block and file storage so there's no need to allocate/reserve storage specifically for local. But yeah without IT...
